About

Freelancerate puts freelance rate-setting math behind one connector, computed locally from the numbers you supply. hourly_rate_calculator works backward from a desired annual income to a required hourly rate, accounting for non-billable time, self-employment tax (both the employee and employer share), self-funded benefits, and business overhead. project_vs_hourly_pricing_comparison compares a fixed project price against an hourly quote and shows the effective hourly rate under realistic overrun scenarios. rate_increase_calculator gives the flat rate increase needed to add a target amount of annual income given your current billable hours. rate_negotiation_reference gives hand-curated guidance for common scenarios (a client says you're too expensive, justifying a higher rate, mid-project scope creep, saying no to a lowball offer). market_rate_reference gives broad, approximate US hourly-rate ranges by experience level and market tier. freelance_glossary defines terms like billable hours, utilization rate, scope creep, and effective hourly rate. General educational information and arithmetic, not financial or tax advice.

What Freelancerate is for

"What hourly rate do I actually need to charge to make $100k a year?", "should I quote this project hourly or fixed-price?", "how much do I need to raise my rate to make an extra $10k?" — the rate-setting math freelancers usually guess at, done with a real formula instead — no upstream calls, nothing stored.

What it does

hourly_rate_calculator works backward from a desired annual income to a required hourly billing rate, accounting for the real freelancer-specific factors an employee's salary doesn't have to price in: non-billable time (admin, marketing, learning — hours you work but can't invoice), self-employment tax (both the "employee" and "employer" share of Social Security/Medicare, since a freelancer effectively pays both), and the cost of self-funding benefits/healthcare and general business overhead an employer would otherwise absorb. project_vs_hourly_pricing_comparison compares a fixed project price against an hourly quote and shows what the fixed price's EFFECTIVE hourly rate becomes if the work runs over estimate — the real risk baked into fixed-price quoting. rate_increase_calculator gives the flat hourly increase needed to add a target amount of annual income given your current billable hours. rate_negotiation_reference gives hand-curated guidance for common scenarios: a client says your rate is too expensive, justifying a higher rate, handling mid-project scope creep, and saying no to a lowball offer. market_rate_reference gives broad, approximate US hourly-rate ranges by experience level (entry/mid/senior/expert) and market tier. freelance_glossary defines terms like billable hours, utilization rate, scope creep, retainer, effective hourly rate, and self-employment tax.

What it is not

General educational information and arithmetic, not financial or tax advice. The hourly-rate calculator grosses the entire need up by a flat self-employment tax rate as a simplification — real US self-employment tax only applies fully up to the annual Social Security wage base, and income tax brackets add further complexity this connector does not model. Market-rate ranges are broad, general starting points, not field- or region-specific data — actual rates vary enormously by specialization, geography, and demand. Confirm real numbers with a tax professional and field-specific market research before pricing real work.

Freelancerate — Privacy Policy

Effective 28 September 2026. Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us"), Menlo Park, California.

What Freelancerate is. Freelancerate is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf to compute freelance rate-setting figures: a backward-from-income hourly rate, project-vs-hourly pricing comparisons, rate-increase math, and reference guidance. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the numbers needed for that one calculation.

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — typically a desired income, hours worked, cost assumptions, or a current rate — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

Nothing you submit is stored or logged. Every calculation is computed fresh from the numbers you provide in that single request — Freelancerate does not maintain an income history, a client list, or a rate history for you. No query — including any income figure, rate, or cost you enter — is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, client names, or any account or financial-account information, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps, never the request content) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Sub-processors. None — every tool is computed locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived, content-free logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. Freelancerate is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Terms of service

Freelancerate — Terms of Service

Effective 28 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Freelancerate connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. Freelancerate returns freelance rate-setting calculations — a backward-from-income hourly rate, project-vs-hourly pricing comparisons, rate-increase math — plus hand-curated rate-negotiation and market-rate reference information, computed or looked up from the information you provide in each request. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. Not financial or tax advice. Freelancerate's output is general arithmetic and reference guidance applied to numbers you supply — not individualized financial, tax, or business advice. Self-employment tax, deductible expenses, and real market rates depend on your specific situation, jurisdiction, specialization, and negotiating leverage; consult a tax professional before relying on any figure here for real pricing or tax planning.
  3. Estimates, not guarantees. Nothing in the Service guarantees that a client will accept a computed rate or price, or that market-rate reference ranges reflect actual current demand in your field or region.
  4. Simplifications are disclosed. The hourly-rate calculator grosses the entire income need up by a flat self-employment tax rate as a stated simplification; it does not model tax brackets, deductions, or the Social Security wage base cap.
  5. Acceptable use. Automated use within the published rate limits is welcome.
  6. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  7. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your query is answered on our server and nothing is stored.
  8. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
  9. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any financial or business consequence arising from use of or reliance on the Service. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
  10. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
