About

Groceryunit is a fully local, multi-item grocery shopping-list price comparison calculator. Its main tool, compare_shopping_list, takes a whole list — several items, each with one or more size/price options — and picks the best-value option per item, then totals the list, comparing your best-value total against what the same quantities would have cost at each item's worst per-unit rate, so the headline numbers (running total and total savings) are for the whole list, not one item. price_per_unit ranks 2-10 options for a single item as a building-block helper. running_total sums an already-chosen cart with quantities and optional tax. budget_fit checks a list's best-value total against a budget and, if over, ranks which items would free up the most money if dropped. price_per_serving computes cost per serving for menu planning. bulk_worth_it decides whether a bulk size is genuinely worth it by weighing its per-unit price against your usage rate and the product's shelf life — not price alone. normalize_unit converts a quantity to a standard base unit. savings_tips gives general, non-brand-specific grocery savings tips, and glossary defines unit price, PPU, loss leader, shelf life and store brand. All prices and quantities are supplied by you; nothing is looked up against any real store.

Sources: Fully local computation from prices and quantities you supply; a small built-in table of common grocery units (mass, volume, count) for normalization. Nothing is matched against any real store's current prices. Zero upstream calls.

What Groceryunit is for

"Which size should I buy for everything on my list, and what will it all cost?" — most unit-price tools compare one item's two options. Groceryunit compares a whole shopping list at once: every item, every option you give it, with a single running total and a total-savings number for the whole trip.

What it does

compare_shopping_list is the main tool: give it a list of items, each with one or more size/price options, and it picks the best-value (lowest per-unit-price) option for every item, then totals the list. Savings are computed on an equal-quantity basis — for each item, what the same quantity as your best pick would have cost at that item's worst per-unit rate — so the numbers stay meaningful even when options come in very different package sizes. price_per_unit is the single-item building block: ranks 2-10 price/size options for one item. running_total sums an already-decided cart (price × quantity per line) with optional tax. budget_fit checks a list's best-value total against a budget and, if it's over, ranks which items would free up the most money if dropped. price_per_serving computes cost per serving or meal, useful for planning. bulk_worth_it goes beyond per-unit price alone: it estimates whether you'd actually use up a bulk size before it spoils, scaling from how fast you go through the smaller size, and only recommends bulk when both the price and the timing work out. normalize_unit converts a quantity to a standard base unit (kg, litre, or item) for manual comparisons. savings_tips gives general, non-brand-specific grocery savings tips, and glossary defines terms like unit price, PPU, loss leader, shelf life and store brand.

How it differs from a single-item unit-price tool

A basic unit-price checker answers "which of these two package sizes is cheaper per unit?" for one item. Groceryunit is built around the shopping trip, not the single item: its headline output is a running total and a total-savings figure across everything on your list, plus decisions (budget fit, bulk-vs-spoilage) that only make sense at the list or planning level. Use a single-item tool for a quick one-off comparison; use Groceryunit when you're actually building out and pricing a list.

What it is not

Not connected to any real store's prices or inventory — every price, quantity and unit comes from you, and nothing is looked up online. It also doesn't know freshness or quality; bulk_worth_it only estimates usage timing from what you tell it.

Grocery Unit — Privacy Policy

What Groceryunit is. Groceryunit is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a fully local, multi-item grocery shopping-list price comparison calculator — best-value picks, running totals, budget fit, per-serving cost, a bulk-buy decision helper, and a savings glossary. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one calculation.

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — item names, prices, quantities and units you supply, a budget figure, or a glossary term — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

Everything is computed locally and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party, including any grocery retailer — there is no upstream call at all — and no shopping list, price or query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything. Your list is used only to compute that one response.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, your location, or which store you shop at, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Sub-processors. None — every calculation runs locally on the server. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. Groceryunit is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Terms of service

Grocery Unit — Terms of Service

Effective 25 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Groceryunit connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. Groceryunit returns a fully local, multi-item grocery shopping-list price comparison calculator — best-value picks across a list, a running total, budget-fit checking, per-serving cost, a bulk-buy worth-it decision, unit normalization, savings tips and a glossary. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. Your numbers, not a price lookup. All prices, quantities and units used in a calculation come from you. Groceryunit does not look up, verify, or guarantee any real store's current prices, availability, freshness or quality — accuracy of the result depends on the accuracy of what you enter.
  3. Estimates, not guarantees. bulk_worth_it's usage-timing estimate is a rough scaling from the inputs you give and cannot know your actual future consumption; treat it as a guide, not a prediction.
  4. Acceptable use. Automated use within the published rate limits is welcome.
  5. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  6. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your list is used only to compute one response, and nothing is stored.
  7. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
  8. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any loss arising from a purchasing decision made using this Service's output. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
  9. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
