"The gate agent says the flight's oversold and asked for volunteers — should I take the deal?", "I got bumped against my will, what am I actually owed?" — a verified calculator for denied boarding / overbooking ("bumping") specifically, separate from ordinary delay and cancellation rights.
us_denied_boarding_compensation applies US DOT's 14 CFR 250.5 formula: 200% of your one-way fare (capped at
$1,075) for a 1-2 hour domestic delay (1-4 hours international), or 400% (capped at $2,150) beyond that.
us_denied_boarding_exceptions_check flags the standard reasons no compensation is owed — an aircraft under 30
seats, an on-time alternate, a missed check-in deadline, or a safety-driven aircraft substitution.
us_cash_vs_voucher explains your right to insist on cash instead of a travel voucher, and the refund of any
ancillary fee (seat selection, checked bag) for a service you didn't receive. eu261_denied_boarding_compensation
applies EU261 Article 7's EUR250/400/600 distance table via Article 4 — with no extraordinary-circumstances
exemption, since overbooking is always the airline's own commercial decision, not weather or ATC.
eu261_volunteer_and_care_rights covers the duty to ask for volunteers first and the meal/hotel/communication
care owed on top of any cash compensation. canada_bumping_compensation applies APPR's flat CAD900/1,800/2,400
tiers by arrival-delay length, the same for every airline regardless of size. jurisdiction_overview and
compare_jurisdictions give the full text for one jurisdiction or a side-by-side comparison.
voluntary_vs_involuntary_explainer clarifies the difference between volunteering (negotiated benefits, no
fixed amount) and an involuntary bump (fixed statutory compensation). overbookrights_glossary defines terms
like overbooking, volunteer, and involuntary denied boarding.
This covers denied boarding / overbooking only — a flight that's delayed or cancelled outright (rather than oversold) is a different regime in every one of these jurisdictions, covered by the companion Flight Rights reference instead. This is general information, not legal advice: passenger-rights rules are periodically revised (the US dollar caps are adjusted for inflation on a schedule), and the exact outcome always depends on your specific facts, ticket conditions and airline. Verify against the official regulator — transportation.gov, europa.eu/youreurope, or otc-cta.gc.ca — before relying on this for a real claim.

What Overbook Rights is. Overbook Rights is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated, fully local airline overbooking/denied-boarding ("bumping") passenger-rights reference and calculator — US DOT, EU261 and Canada APPR rules, applied to the numbers you provide. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one calculation.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a delay length, a flight distance, an aircraft seat count, or a jurisdiction name — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs. We do not ask for or need your name, ticket number, or airline booking reference to answer any of these questions.
Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-curated reference file and computed locally, and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and every calculation runs locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Overbook Rights is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
