About

POAGuide puts common US power-of-attorney concepts behind one connector, hand-curated and fully local — nothing fetched, nothing stored. POA types: general, limited/special, durable, medical/healthcare, springing, and financial, each described in plain language. Scope of authority: what a POA typically can (banking, bills, real estate, contracts, taxes, investments) and cannot (change the principal's own will, vote, act after death, exceed the document's actual grant) authorize. Revocation: the general steps to revoke a POA and the events that end one automatically. POA vs. guardianship: the key difference between a self-chosen power of attorney and a court-imposed guardianship or conservatorship. Glossary: principal, agent/attorney-in-fact, durable, springing, successor agent, healthcare proxy, fiduciary duty, and more. Granting checklist: what to think about before naming an agent. General educational information, not legal advice, and does not create an attorney-client relationship.

Sources: Hand-curated general US power-of-attorney reference content (types, scope, revocation, guardianship comparison, glossary, checklist); fully local, zero upstream calls. General educational information, not legal advice.

What POAGuide is for

"What's a durable power of attorney", "can my agent write me a new will", "how do I revoke a power of attorney", "power of attorney vs guardianship", "what should I think about before giving someone power of attorney" — the plain-language questions people have before signing or relying on a POA. POAGuide answers them from a hand-curated, fully local reference — no upstream calls, no accounts, nothing stored.

POAGuide is general educational information about common US power-of-attorney concepts. It is NOT legal advice, and using it does NOT create an attorney-client relationship. It does not know your state's specific statute or your personal situation. Always consult a licensed attorney in your state before signing, relying on, or revoking a power of attorney.

What it does

POA types. General, limited/special, durable, medical/healthcare, springing, and financial powers of attorney, each with a plain-language description of what makes it distinct.

Scope of authority. What a POA can typically authorize (banking, bill-paying, real estate, contracts, taxes, investments) and what it cannot (writing or changing the principal's own will, voting, acting after death, exceeding what the document actually grants) — always subject to what the specific, signed document actually says.

Revocation. General steps to revoke a POA (a written, signed revocation; notifying the agent directly; notifying every institution holding a copy; recording the revocation if the original was recorded), and the events that end a POA automatically — death (always), a stated expiration, or the principal's incapacity for a POA that is not durable.

POA vs. guardianship/conservatorship. The key distinction between a self-chosen, low-cost power of attorney signed while competent and a court-supervised guardianship or conservatorship imposed after incapacity has already occurred — who decides, when it starts, how much control the principal keeps, and the cost and flexibility trade-offs.

Glossary. Plain-language definitions: principal, agent/attorney-in-fact, durable, springing, successor agent, healthcare proxy, advance directive, fiduciary duty, guardianship/conservatorship, and notarization.

Granting checklist. What to think about before granting a POA: choosing and vetting an agent, deciding scope and timing, setting explicit limits, and confirming your state's signing formalities.

What it is not

Not legal advice, not a document-drafting service, not a substitute for a licensed attorney, and it does not create an attorney-client relationship. It does not know your state's specific execution requirements or your personal situation, and the actual document you sign — not this general reference — always controls what an agent may do. For an actual power of attorney, consult a licensed attorney in your state.

POAGuide — Privacy Policy

Effective 28 September 2026. Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us"), Menlo Park, California.

What POAGuide is. POAGuide is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for US power-of-attorney basics reference information: POA types, scope, revocation, guardianship comparison, a glossary, and a granting checklist. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — at most a POA type or glossary term to look up — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

Everything is computed on our server and nothing is stored. Every response is drawn from hand-curated, bundled reference content; no request is forwarded to any third party, and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, or any information about who you are naming as an agent, your actual POA document, your state of residence, or your personal or family situation, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Sub-processors. None — every tool is computed locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. For users in California, the EU/UK and elsewhere, our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. POAGuide is a general-audience service for adults; we knowingly collect no personal data from anyone.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Terms of service

POAGuide — Terms of Service

Effective 28 September 2026. These terms govern use of the POAGuide connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. POAGuide returns hand-curated, general reference content about common US power-of-attorney concepts — POA types, scope of authority, revocation steps, the POA-vs-guardianship distinction, a glossary, and a granting checklist. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. NOT legal advice. NOT an attorney-client relationship. Every response from POAGuide is general educational information about common power-of-attorney concepts, prepared without knowledge of your state's specific statutes, the actual document you have or intend to sign, or the facts of your situation. It is not a recommendation, not individualized legal advice, and using the Service — including receiving any response from it — does NOT create an attorney-client relationship between you and Unify Dynamics LLC or anyone else. Consult a licensed attorney in your state before signing, relying on, or revoking a power of attorney.
  3. The actual document controls. poa_scope describes general patterns of what a POA typically can and cannot authorize — it does not read or know the terms of any specific, actual power-of-attorney document. The written document a principal signs is what legally defines an agent's authority; consult it directly, or have an attorney review it, before acting or relying on it.
  4. Not a substitute for a properly executed document. The granting checklist and revocation steps are preparation aids, not a document-drafting or legal-filing service. A valid POA, and a valid revocation, must meet your state's specific signing and (often) notarization requirements; an improperly executed document can be rejected when it matters most. Have any actual power of attorney, or its revocation, prepared or reviewed by a licensed attorney.
  5. Laws change. Power-of-attorney law, including execution formalities, durability defaults, and guardianship/conservatorship procedures, is set and changed by state legislation over time. Always confirm current requirements with a licensed attorney before relying on anything from this Service for an actual decision.
  6. Acceptable use. Automated use within the published rate limits is welcome.
  7. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  8. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your query is answered on our server and nothing is stored.
  9. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
  10. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any legal, financial, or other loss arising from use of or reliance on the Service. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
  11. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
