Real QR code generation (text, URL, Wi-Fi, vCard), decoding, and error-correction reference
Unify Dynamics LLC
Real questions, and the tools your agent calls to answer them.
qr_generateqr_generateqr_generateqr_decodeqr_error_correction_levelsQRSmith generates real QR codes, computed locally with no upstream calls. qr_generate encodes plain text, a URL, a Wi-Fi network (built into the standard Wi-Fi QR format with correct escaping), or a vCard 3.0 contact card into a genuine QR code using real Reed-Solomon error-correction encoding, returned as a base64 PNG or SVG, with the code's QR version and module count. qr_decode reads a base64-encoded QR image back to its text where the deployment's zbar library is available, and reports plainly (decode_available: false) rather than guessing when it is not. qr_error_correction_levels explains the QR standard's real L/M/Q/H recovery percentages and when to use each. Keyless; fully local; zero upstream calls; nothing stored.

Generating a real QR code — for a URL, plain text, a Wi-Fi network your guests can join by scanning, or a vCard contact card — without opening a design tool or a sketchy web widget, plus reading a QR code image back to its text, and explaining what the QR standard's error-correction levels actually mean.
Generate — qr_generate encodes text, a URL, a Wi-Fi network (kind='wifi', with SSID/password/security/
hidden — built into the real Wi-Fi QR format, with special characters correctly escaped), or a contact card
(kind='vcard', RFC 2426 vCard 3.0) into a genuine QR code using real Reed-Solomon error-correction encoding —
not a placeholder image. Choose an error-correction level and get PNG (base64) or SVG back, with the code's QR
version and module count. Decode — qr_decode reads a QR code image (base64-encoded) back to its text,
where the deployment supports it (see below). Reference — qr_error_correction_levels gives the real L/M/
Q/H recovery percentages from the QR standard and when to use each.
Generation has no external dependency beyond pure Python. Decoding uses a system library (zbar) that a
serverless deployment does not always have installed; qr_decode checks for it on each call and returns
decode_available: false with a plain explanation when it is not there, rather than failing the whole
connector or fabricating a result. Generation and the error-correction reference always work regardless.
QRSmith doesn't store or design custom-branded QR codes with embedded logos, doesn't read barcodes other than QR (no UPC/Code128/PDF417), and its Wi-Fi and vCard builders cover the common fields, not every optional vCard property.

What QRSmith is. QRSmith is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf to generate and decode QR codes and to explain QR error-correction levels. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the values needed for that one calculation.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — for generation: the text, URL, Wi-Fi credentials, or vCard fields you asked to encode, plus your chosen error-correction level and output options; for decoding: the base64-encoded image you asked us to read — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is computed on our server and nothing is stored. QR generation and decoding are pure
computation (the qrcode and, where available, pyzbar libraries) run for that one request; no request is
forwarded to any third party. We do not store the text, image, network credentials, or contact details you
send for encoding or decoding — including Wi-Fi passwords, which pass through the same one-request-and-gone
handling as everything else and are never logged in request bodies or written to disk.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, contacts, or account credentials beyond what you explicitly ask us to encode into a QR code. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — every tool is computed locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. For users in California, the EU/UK and elsewhere, our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
A note on sensitive input. Wi-Fi passwords and contact details are, by nature, sensitive — we do not retain them, but treat any tool that echoes them back (as a QR code necessarily does) with the same care you'd give any other place you paste a credential.
Children. QRSmith is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
