About

SideHustle puts US gig-economy and side-income tax arithmetic behind one connector, all computed locally from bundled, verified IRS figures — nothing fetched, nothing stored. Self-employment tax: 15.3% of 92.35% of net profit, coordinated with any W-2 wages against the Social Security wage base and the Additional Medicare Tax threshold, with the deductible employer-equivalent half reported. Quarterly estimated taxes: the current year's four IRS due dates, plus a safe-harbor target (smaller of 90% of this year's tax or 100%/110% of last year's) and a suggested even quarterly payment. Mileage: the correct current-year standard mileage rate, including 2026's rare mid-year increase from 72.5 to 76 cents/mile. Reference: a deductible-expense checklist for common gig work, a 1099-vs-W-2 classification explainer covering the IRS's factors, and a recordkeeping checklist. A glossary covers Schedule C/SE, 1099-NEC, 1099-K, safe harbor, and more. General educational information, not tax advice.

Sources: IRC §1401/§6654 (self-employment tax, safe harbor); SSA's October 2025 wage-base announcement; IRS Notice 2025-5 and the IRS's December 2025 and mid-2026 mileage-rate notices; IRS Form 1040-ES instructions — bundled, dated tables. Computed locally; fully local, zero upstream calls.

What SideHustle is for

"Self-employment tax on $60,000 net profit", "when are my quarterly estimated taxes due", "how much should I pay each quarter to avoid a penalty", "mileage deduction for 8,000 business miles this year", "am I a 1099 contractor or should I be a W-2 employee" — the tax questions gig and side-income workers ask before their accountant does. SideHustle answers them with real arithmetic over published, dated IRS figures — no upstream calls, no accounts, nothing stored.

What it does

Self-employment tax. 15.3% of 92.35% of net profit — 12.4% Social Security up to the annual wage base, 2.9% Medicare with no cap, plus the 0.9% Additional Medicare Tax over your filing-status threshold — correctly coordinated with any W-2 wages you already have this year (Social Security tax stops once combined wages and self-employment earnings reach the wage base; the Additional Medicare threshold also counts wages first). Reports the deductible "employer-equivalent half," the one real tax break built into self-employment tax itself.

Quarterly estimated taxes. The current year's four IRS due dates, and — given an estimated annual tax and/or last year's tax and AGI — the safe-harbor target (the smaller of 90% of this year's tax or 100% of last year's, 110% if last year's AGI was over $150,000) plus a suggested even quarterly payment.

Mileage deduction. Applies the correct current-year standard mileage rate. 2026 is unusual: the IRS set 72.5 cents/mile for January–June, then took the rare step of a mid-year increase to 76 cents/mile for July–December, citing rising vehicle costs — the tool asks for miles in each period separately so the right rate is always used, rather than one flat (and eventually wrong) number.

Reference checklists. A hand-curated deductible-expense checklist for common gig work (mileage, home office, supplies, phone/internet, self-employed health insurance, retirement contributions, and more), a 1099-vs-W-2 explainer covering the IRS's worker-classification factors and the practical differences (withholding, FICA, benefits, deductibility), and a recordkeeping checklist (what to keep, why, and for how long).

Glossary. Plain-language definitions: self-employment tax, Schedule C/SE, 1099-NEC, 1099-K, safe harbor, standard mileage rate, and more.

What it is not

Not personalized tax or legal advice, and not a substitute for a tax professional or your own return. State self-employment tax equivalents, entity-structure effects (S-corp elections, for example), and prior-year penalty history are not modeled. Figures are supported for tax years 2025 and 2026 only — the tables need updating when the IRS publishes new figures for a later year, and mileage/quarterly-due-date figures in particular change (sometimes mid-year, as in 2026).

What SideHustle is. SideHustle is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for US gig-economy / side-income tax calculations: self-employment tax, quarterly estimated-tax schedules, mileage deductions, and reference checklists. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the numbers needed for that one calculation.

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a net-profit figure, filing status, wage figures, mileage numbers, a tax year, and (optionally) prior-year tax/AGI figures for the safe-harbor calculation — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

Everything is computed on our server and nothing is stored. Every calculation uses bundled, dated IRS rate tables and standard published formulas computed from the numbers you provide; no request is forwarded to any third party, and no query — including any income, wage, or mileage figure you enter — is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, Social Security number, business name or EIN, bank account information, or any other identifying information, and we do not build a financial profile from your queries: each calculation is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Sub-processors. None — every tool is computed locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. For users in California, the EU/UK and elsewhere, our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. SideHustle is a general-audience service for adults; we knowingly collect no personal data from anyone.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Terms of service

SideHustle — Terms of Service

Effective 28 September 2026. These terms govern use of the SideHustle connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. SideHustle returns US gig-economy / side-income tax calculations — self-employment tax, quarterly estimated-tax due dates and safe-harbor targets, mileage deductions, and reference checklists — computed from bundled, dated IRS rate tables and the numbers you provide. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. Not tax or legal advice. SideHustle's calculations are general educational information and illustrative estimates based on rates you supply or that are bundled from published government tables — not a recommendation, and not individualized tax or legal advice. Consult a tax professional before filing a return or making an estimated payment.
  3. Rates and rules change. Self-employment tax rates are set by statute and stable, but the Social Security wage base, standard mileage rates, and quarterly due dates are supported for tax years 2025 and 2026 as published by the IRS and SSA at build time; 2026's mileage rate in particular changed mid-year. Always check irs.gov before relying on a figure for a filing or a decision.
  4. Reference material is general, not exhaustive. The deductible-expense checklist, the 1099-vs-W-2 explainer, and the recordkeeping checklist describe common situations; they are not a substitute for a tax professional's review of your specific facts.
  5. Estimates, not guarantees. Actual tax liability depends on your full return, state taxes, and individual circumstances; nothing in the Service guarantees any particular filing outcome or that estimated payments will avoid all penalties.
  6. Acceptable use. Automated use within the published rate limits is welcome.
  7. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  8. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your query is answered on our server and nothing is stored.
  9. Attribution. Internal Revenue Service (IRS); Social Security Administration (SSA).
  10. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
  11. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any financial loss, penalty, or interest arising from use of or reliance on the Service. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
  12. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
