General information only, not legal advice. Keyless; fully local; zero upstream calls; nothing stored.

"What's the difference between royalty-free and rights-managed?", "can I use this CC BY-NC photo in an ad?", "what license should I use for a commercial campaign?", "do I need a model release for this photo?" — a practical, hand-curated stock-media licensing reference. This is general information, not legal advice — actual terms are always set by the specific marketplace agreement or contract for the asset in question.
license_type_info explains one licensing model in full — what it permits, what it restricts, and its typical use
— across Royalty-Free, Rights-Managed, the CC0 public-domain dedication, each of the six standard Creative Commons
variants (BY, BY-SA, BY-NC, BY-NC-SA, BY-ND, BY-NC-ND), Editorial-Only, and Public Domain; license_list shows all
eleven at a glance. use_case_decision_guide is genuine computed decision logic: describe a use case in plain
language and it picks up on commercial, noncommercial, editorial, and exclusivity signals to recommend suitable
license type(s), with specific cautions. cc_license_compare lines up two or more named Creative Commons variants
side by side on attribution, commercial use, derivatives, and share-alike. editorial_vs_commercial_check
classifies a described use as editorial or commercial/advertising and explains why that distinction has real
consequences for editorial-only assets. model_release_property_release_info explains model and property
releases, and why a copyright license to an image and a release from the person or property depicted in it are two
separate things you can need at the same time. attribution_generator computes a properly formatted attribution
credit line for a Creative Commons–licensed work from a creator name, the license, and an optional source URL and
title. risk_flags keyword-scans a described use for the licensing mistakes that come up again and again —
editorial assets used in ads, NonCommercial assets used commercially, modifying a NoDerivatives asset, exceeding a
Rights-Managed license's scope, missing a model release, or reselling the asset itself. stock_glossary defines
royalty, exclusive/non-exclusive license, extended license, fair use, attribution, derivative work, and more.
Not legal advice, and not a substitute for reading the actual license agreement attached to a specific asset. Licensing terms vary by marketplace and by the exact contract offered for any given piece of stock media — this reference explains how these models commonly work in general, so you know what to look for and what questions to ask, not what a particular license definitely says. For any use with real legal or financial stakes, consult a lawyer and read the license you were actually given.

What Stockrights is. Stockrights is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated stock-media licensing reference and computed decision/attribution tools. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup or computation.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a license type, a described use case, license names to compare, a creator name/source URL for an attribution line, or a described use to risk-check — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is answered from bundled, hand-curated reference data or computed locally, and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — the entire reference is bundled with the server and every computation runs locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Stockrights is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
