About

WillBasics puts common US estate-planning concepts behind one connector, hand-curated and fully local — nothing fetched, nothing stored. Glossary: plain-language definitions of will, living will (advance directive), executor, beneficiary, intestate succession, probate, revocable vs. irrevocable trust, power of attorney, estate tax vs. inheritance tax, guardian, codicil, per stirpes vs. per capita, residuary estate, and testator. Intestate succession basics: the GENERAL, cross-state pattern for who typically inherits when someone dies without a valid will, and which kinds of property (beneficiary designations, joint tenancy, trust assets) it never controls — explicitly not any one state's actual statute, since those vary and change. Will-readiness checklist: what to think about and gather before meeting an estate-planning attorney or using a will-drafting service — naming an executor and guardian, listing assets and beneficiary designations, special situations, and state signing formalities. General educational information, not legal advice, and does not create an attorney-client relationship.

Sources: Hand-curated general US estate-planning reference content (terms, general intestate succession pattern, readiness checklist); fully local, zero upstream calls. General educational information, not legal advice.

What WillBasics is for

"What does intestate mean", "what happens if I die without a will", "difference between a revocable and irrevocable trust", "what's the difference between estate tax and inheritance tax", "what should I prepare before seeing an estate attorney" — the plain-language questions people have before they ever talk to an estate-planning attorney. WillBasics answers them from a hand-curated, fully local reference — no upstream calls, no accounts, nothing stored.

WillBasics is general educational information about common US estate-planning concepts. It is NOT legal advice, and using it does NOT create an attorney-client relationship. It does not know your state's specific statute or your personal situation. Always consult a licensed estate-planning attorney in your state before making decisions about your own estate plan.

What it does

Glossary. Plain-language definitions of the terms that come up around wills and estates: will, living will (advance directive), executor, beneficiary, intestate succession, probate, revocable vs. irrevocable trust, power of attorney, estate tax vs. inheritance tax, guardian, codicil, per stirpes vs. per capita, residuary estate, and testator.

Intestate succession basics. A plain-language explainer of the GENERAL, cross-state pattern for who typically inherits when someone dies without a valid will — spouse, children, parents, siblings, and more distant relatives, in a rough shared order most states follow — and which kinds of property (beneficiary designations, joint tenancy, trust assets) intestate succession never touches at all. It explicitly does not encode any one state's actual statute, because exact shares and rules are set state by state and vary significantly.

Will-readiness checklist. What to think about and gather before meeting an estate-planning attorney or using a will-drafting service: naming an executor and a guardian for minor children, listing assets and checking beneficiary designations on retirement and insurance accounts (which pass outside the will), flagging special situations like blended families or vulnerable beneficiaries, and confirming your state's signing/witnessing formalities.

What it is not

Not legal advice, not a will-drafting service, not a substitute for a licensed estate-planning attorney, and it does not create an attorney-client relationship. It does not have any state's actual intestate succession statute loaded — only the general, cross-state pattern — and it cannot evaluate your specific family situation, assets, or state's requirements. For an actual will, trust, or estate plan, consult a licensed attorney in your state.

WillBasics — Privacy Policy

Effective 28 September 2026. Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us"), Menlo Park, California.

What WillBasics is. WillBasics is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for US estate-planning / will basics reference information: a glossary, an intestate succession explainer, and a will-readiness checklist. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — at most a glossary search term or a US state name — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

Everything is computed on our server and nothing is stored. Every response is drawn from hand-curated, bundled reference content; no request is forwarded to any third party, and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, or any information about your actual estate, family, assets, or state of residence beyond an optional term or state name you pass to a lookup, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Sub-processors. None — every tool is computed locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. For users in California, the EU/UK and elsewhere, our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. WillBasics is a general-audience service for adults; we knowingly collect no personal data from anyone.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Terms of service

WillBasics — Terms of Service

Effective 28 September 2026. These terms govern use of the WillBasics connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. WillBasics returns hand-curated, general reference content about common US estate-planning concepts — a glossary of terms, a plain-language explainer of the general (cross-state) intestate succession pattern, and a will-readiness checklist. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. NOT legal advice. NOT an attorney-client relationship. Every response from WillBasics is general educational information about common estate-planning concepts, prepared without knowledge of your state's specific statutes, your family situation, your assets, or the facts of your case. It is not a recommendation, not individualized legal advice, and using the Service — including receiving any response from it — does NOT create an attorney-client relationship between you and Unify Dynamics LLC or anyone else. Consult a licensed estate-planning attorney in your state before making decisions about your own will, trust, or estate plan.
  3. No state-specific statutes. intestate_succession_basics describes only the general pattern that most states' intestate succession statutes broadly follow — it does NOT contain any individual state's actual statute, exact shares, or definitions, all of which are set by state law and vary significantly. Do not rely on it to determine actual inheritance rights in any real situation; consult your state's probate code or a local attorney.
  4. Not a substitute for a properly executed will. The will-readiness checklist and glossary are preparation aids, not a will-drafting service. A valid will must meet your state's specific signing, witnessing, and capacity requirements; an improperly executed document can be entirely invalid. Have any actual will prepared or reviewed by a licensed attorney or a reputable, state-specific service.
  5. Laws change. Estate-planning law, including intestate succession statutes, tax thresholds, and execution formalities, changes by state legislation over time. Always confirm current requirements with a licensed attorney before relying on anything from this Service for an actual decision.
  6. Acceptable use. Automated use within the published rate limits is welcome.
  7. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  8. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your query is answered on our server and nothing is stored.
  9. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
  10. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any legal, financial, or other loss arising from use of or reliance on the Service. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
  11. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
