About

Bengali Phrases is a fully local, hand-curated everyday Bengali (Bangla) phrasebook. phrase_search searches by keyword across Bengali text, romanization and meaning; phrases_by_category lists every phrase in one of nine categories (greetings, courtesy, family, food, directions, shopping, time, emergencies, numbers), and categories_list shows them all with counts. greeting_for_context suggests greetings filtered by time of day and/or formality, or picks one automatically for right now. phrase_of_the_day returns one phrase deterministically chosen for today's date. family_terms lists Bengali kinship words. pronunciation_guide gives brief, purely descriptive notes on Bengali script conventions -- the inherent vowel, conjunct consonants, and the তুই/তুমি/আপনি formality distinction. Keyless; fully local; zero upstream calls; nothing stored.

Sources: Bengali-script phrase text verified against omniglot.com, pinhok.com, fsi-language-courses.org, talkpal.ai, mondly.com and learnbengalionline.com as of build date; fully local, zero upstream calls

What Bengali Phrases is for

The question that comes up whenever an everyday Bengali word or phrase is needed — how do you actually say "thank you", what's a formal way to greet someone in the evening, what are the Bengali words for "mother" and "elder sister" — answered from one hand-curated, respectful reference, without hunting across forum threads of varying reliability.

What it does

69 everyday Bengali (Bangla) phrases and words across greetings, courtesy, family terms, food, directions, shopping, time, emergencies, and a small 1-10 numbers list, each given in real Bengali script with a romanized transliteration and an English meaning (phrase_search, phrases_by_category, categories_list). A context-aware greeting picker that filters by time of day and formality, or suggests one automatically for right now (greeting_for_context). A deterministic phrase of the day (phrase_of_the_day). A dedicated list of Bengali kinship terms — mother, father, siblings by birth order, grandparents, aunts/uncles, son, daughter (family_terms). Brief, purely descriptive notes on Bengali pronunciation and script conventions: the inherent vowel, conjunct consonants, retroflex vs. dental sounds, and the তুই/তুমি/আপনি formality distinction (pronunciation_guide).

What it is not

Not a claim that either greeting tradition included here (secular Bengali, or a specific-faith greeting like আসসালামু আলাইকুম) is the only correct way to greet someone — Bengali speakers span many faiths and regions, and both are included side by side. Not a deep numerals reference — this connector deliberately keeps only a small everyday 1-10 list, and fuller numeral coverage (place values, ordinals, native digit glyphs) lives in a separate pan-India numbers connector. Not a substitute for hearing a native speaker, especially for pronunciation nuances that text can't fully capture. Fully local, zero upstream calls, nothing stored.

Tools

Look Up

phrase_search — Keyword search across every phrase's Bengali text, romanization, meaning and category. Use for "how do you say thank you in Bengali", "find phrases about shopping". Args: query.

phrases_by_category — Every phrase in one category: greetings, courtesy, family, food, directions, shopping, time, emergencies, or numbers. Use categories_list to see valid names. Use for "list all Bengali greeting phrases". Args: category.

categories_list — Every phrase category with how many phrases are in it. Use for "what categories of Bengali phrases do you cover".

Everyday Use

greeting_for_context — Suggests Bengali greetings filtered by time of day and/or formality. Omit both to get an automatically time-appropriate suggestion for right now. Use for "what's a formal Bengali greeting", "how do I greet someone in the evening in Bengali". Args: time_of_day, formality.

phrase_of_the_day — One Bengali phrase, deterministically chosen for today's date (UTC). Use for "give me a Bengali phrase for today".

family_terms — Every Bengali kinship term in this reference: mother, father, husband, wife, siblings by birth order, grandparents, aunts/uncles, son, daughter. Use for "what are Bengali family words".

Reference

pronunciation_guide — Brief, purely descriptive notes on Bengali pronunciation and script conventions: the inherent vowel, conjunct consonants, retroflex vs. dental sounds, and the তুই/তুমি/আপনি formality distinction. Use for "how does Bengali pronunciation work", "what's the difference between তুমি and আপনি". Args: topic.

Conventions

  • Read-only. Every tool reads public data or computes; nothing is written anywhere and nothing about the user is stored.
  • Result envelope. ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.
  • Rate limits. Free tier 60 tool calls/minute and 300/day per user (keyed on the user identifier supplied by the host agent, else client IP); Pro keys raise this. Over-limit calls return HTTP 429 with Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.

Bengali Phrases — Privacy Policy

Effective 25 September 2026. Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us"), Menlo Park, California.

What Bengali Phrases is. Bengali Phrases is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated Bengali phrasebook: phrase lookups, category browsing, greeting suggestions, family terms, and pronunciation notes. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a phrase, a category, a time of day, a formality level, or a pronunciation topic — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-curated reference file and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. Bengali Phrases is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Terms of service

Bengali Phrases — Terms of Service

Effective 25 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Bengali Phrases connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. Bengali Phrases returns a hand-curated everyday Bengali (Bangla) phrasebook — greetings, courtesy, family terms, food, directions, shopping, time, emergencies, and a small numbers list — from data curated and verified as of the build date stated in its own data. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. A reference, not a lesson. Bengali Phrases is an independent reference tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by any government, institution, or organization, and not a substitute for a phrasebook built for in-depth study or for learning from an actual Bengali speaker.
  3. Multiple traditions, no ranking. Where more than one greeting tradition is included (for example a secular greeting alongside a specific-faith one), neither is presented as the only correct or "proper" way to greet someone.
  4. Acceptable use. Automated use within the published rate limits is welcome.
  5. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  6. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your query is answered from a bundled reference file, and nothing is stored.
  7. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
  8. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any loss arising from use of or reliance on the Service — including in an emergency, where you should always contact local emergency services directly rather than relying on this reference. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
  9. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
  10. Contact. Unify Dynamics LLC · agent@connectorbay.com · https://connectorbay.com/bengaliphrases
