About

Bloom is a fully local tea brewing reference and calculator. tea_type_info covers a tea type's oxidation level, processing, flavor profile and typical origin across white, green, oolong, black, pu-erh, and herbal/tisane. brewing_parameters_guide gives verified water temperature (F/C) and steep time per type. leaf_ratio_calculator is genuine computed math: give a water amount and it solves the loose-tea weight from a standard ~2g-per-8oz ratio, adjusted per type. caffeine_reference gives a general, approximate relative caffeine ordering by type. resteeping_guide covers which types are good for multiple infusions (oolong and pu-erh especially) and how to adjust steep time on later steeps. storage_guide and water_quality_guide cover keeping tea fresh and brewing with good water. ceremony_and_tradition_info gives brief, respectful notes on gongfu cha, Japanese chanoyu, and British afternoon tea. tea_glossary defines common terms. Keyless; fully local; zero upstream API calls.

Sources: Verified via tea-processing and tea-type reference sources (Wikipedia, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health caffeine reference) and hand-written general reference data; fully local, zero upstream calls

What Bloom is for

The facts and small math that come up every time someone brews tea — how hot should the water be for green tea, how much loose leaf for this much water, can this tea be resteeped, how do I store it — answered instantly and correctly, without hunting through a dozen tea blogs that each cite a slightly different number.

What it does

tea_type_info covers a tea type's oxidation level, processing, flavor profile and typical origin across the six major categories: white (minimal oxidation), green (none), oolong (partial, and unusually wide-ranging at roughly 8-85%), black (fully oxidized), pu-erh (post-fermented rather than oxidized), and herbal/tisane (not true tea at all, since it isn't made from the tea plant). brewing_parameters_guide gives the verified water temperature (°F/°C) and steep time for each type — green and white brew coolest and shortest, black and herbal hottest and longest, oolong spans the widest middle range, and pu-erh uses very short gongfu-style infusions. leaf_ratio_calculator is genuine computed math, not a lookup table: it takes a water amount and computes the loose-tea weight from a standard ~2g-per-8oz starting ratio, adjusted per type for leaf density. caffeine_reference gives a general, clearly-approximate relative ordering by type. resteeping_guide covers which types are good for multiple infusions (oolong and pu-erh especially) and the general principle for adjusting steep time on later steeps. storage_guide and water_quality_guide cover the everyday practicalities of keeping tea fresh and brewing it with good water. ceremony_and_tradition_info gives brief, factual notes on three tea traditions — Chinese gongfu cha, the Japanese tea ceremony (chanoyu), and British afternoon tea — and tea_glossary defines common terms (oxidation, flush, gongfu, agony of the leaves, tisane, and more).

What it is not

Not a substitute for tasting and adjusting, and not a tour-guide caricature of the traditions it describes. Every brewing number here is a widely-cited starting point, not a guarantee for any particular leaf, cultivar or water — adjust from these to match your own taste and equipment. The ceremony notes aim to describe real, actively-practiced traditions plainly and respectfully, as ongoing living practices rather than exotic curiosities, and Bloom never names or recommends a specific commercial tea brand.

Tools

Reference

tea_type_info — A tea type's oxidation level, processing, flavor profile, and typical origin — white (minimal oxidation), green (none), oolong (partial, 8-85%), black (full), pu-erh (post-fermented, not oxidized), or herbal/tisane (not true tea at all). Use for "what's the oxidation level of oolong", "where does white tea come from", "what does pu-erh taste like". Args: name.

brewing_parameters_guide — The verified water temperature range (°F and °C) and steep time for a tea type — green and white brew coolest and shortest, oolong spans a wide middle range, black and herbal brew hottest, and pu-erh uses very short gongfu-style infusions. Use for "what water temperature for green tea", "how long should I steep black tea", "is oolong brewed hotter than green tea". Args: tea_type.

caffeine_reference — A general, approximate relative caffeine ordering by tea type (black highest of the common teas, then pu-erh, oolong, green, white, with herbal/tisane typically caffeine-free) and a rough mg-per-8oz range — framed as approximate, since actual caffeine varies more with cultivar, leaf part, particle size and brewing than with category alone. Use for "is black tea more caffeinated than green tea", "does herbal tea have caffeine", "how much caffeine is in oolong". Args: tea_type.

tea_glossary — Definitions of common tea terms (oxidation, fixation/kill-green, withering, flush, gongfu, agony of the leaves, tisane, CTC, muscatel, terroir, whole leaf vs. fannings/dust, umami). Use for "what does flush mean in tea", "what's the agony of the leaves", "what does CTC mean". Args: term.

Calculator

leaf_ratio_calculator — Computes how much loose tea to use for a given amount of water: a standard ~2g-per-8oz default ratio, adjusted per type for leaf density (bulkier white, oolong, pu-erh and herbal leaf/material need a bit more mass than flat green or black leaf). Use for "how much tea for 16oz of water", "how much loose oolong do I need for a liter". Args: water_oz, tea_type.

Technique

resteeping_guide — Which tea types are good for multiple steeps (oolong and pu-erh especially, brewed gongfu-style) and how many infusions are typical, plus the general principle for adjusting steep time on later infusions (lengthen each one rather than repeating the first steep's time). Use for "can I resteep green tea", "how many times can I steep pu-erh", "how do I brew oolong gongfu style". Args: tea_type.

storage_guide — General best practices for storing tea so it stays fresh: light, air, moisture, odor and heat exposure, plus a rough shelf-life guide by category (pu-erh being the deliberate exception that's meant to age). Use for "how should I store my tea", "can I keep tea in the fridge", "how long does green tea stay fresh".

water_quality_guide — General water-quality guidance for brewing tea: filtered vs. tap water, why distilled water tastes flat, water hardness, and why re-boiled water is worth avoiding. Use for "what water is best for tea", "should I use filtered water for tea", "why does my tea taste flat".

Culture

ceremony_and_tradition_info — Brief, factual notes on a tea tradition — Chinese gongfu cha, the Japanese tea ceremony (chanoyu), or British afternoon tea — covering what it is, its key elements, and its cultural significance. Use for "what is gongfu cha", "what is chanoyu", "what's the difference between afternoon tea and high tea". Args: tradition.

Conventions

  • Read-only. Every tool reads public data or computes; nothing is written anywhere and nothing about the user is stored.
  • Result envelope. ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.
  • Rate limits. Free tier 60 tool calls/minute and 300/day per user (keyed on the user identifier supplied by the host agent, else client IP); Pro keys raise this. Over-limit calls return HTTP 429 with Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.

Bloom — Privacy Policy

Effective 24 September 2026. Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us"), Menlo Park, California.

What Bloom is. Bloom is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a fully local tea brewing reference and calculator: tea-type characteristics, brewing parameters, a leaf-to-water ratio calculator, a caffeine reference, a resteeping guide, storage and water-quality guidance, and tea-ceremony/tradition notes. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one calculation or lookup.

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a tea type, a water amount, or a tradition name — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

Everything is answered by local computation or from a bundled reference file, and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Sub-processors. None — every calculation and every dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. Bloom is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Terms of service

Bloom — Terms of Service

Effective 24 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Bloom connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. Bloom is a fully local tea brewing reference and calculator — tea-type characteristics, brewing parameters, a leaf-to-water ratio calculator, a caffeine reference, a resteeping guide, storage and water-quality guidance, and tea-ceremony/tradition notes — computed or looked up from bundled reference data. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. A reference and calculator, not a taste guarantee. Bloom is an independent brewing tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by any tea brand, grower, equipment maker, or certifying or cultural body. Every temperature, steep time, ratio, and caffeine range is a widely-cited general starting point, not a guarantee for any particular leaf, equipment, or water — always adjust to taste.
  3. Not commercial endorsement. Bloom does not name or recommend any specific commercial tea brand or grower, and nothing in the Service should be read as such.
  4. Cultural content. Notes on tea traditions (gongfu cha, the Japanese tea ceremony, British afternoon tea) are offered as brief, factual, respectful reference material, not as instruction in or endorsement of any specific practitioner, school, or lineage.
  5. Acceptable use. Automated use within the published rate limits is welcome.
  6. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  7. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your query is answered by local computation or from a bundled reference file, and nothing is stored.
  8. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
  9. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any loss arising from use of or reliance on the Service — including any brewed tea that doesn't turn out the way you hoped. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
  10. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
