What Abstract Exchange Rates (BYOK) is for

Abstract Exchange Rates (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Abstract Exchange Rates data through the Abstract Exchange Rates API with a key you supply (Abstract Exchange Rates API key). Read-only: 3 tools (get_live_rates, convert_currency, get_historical_rates). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to exchange-rates.abstractapi.com. Abstract Exchange Rates and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "What is the current USD to EUR and GBP exchange rate?"
  • "How much is 250 US dollars in euros today?"
  • "What was the USD to JPY exchange rate on 2024-01-01?"

What it does

  • get_live_rates: Get the most recent exchange rates from a base currency to one, several or all supported currencies, with the update time. Each call counts against the plan's request quota.
  • convert_currency: Convert an amount from a base currency to a target currency at the latest rate, or at the rate of a past date.
  • get_historical_rates: Get the exchange rates of a past day from a base currency to one, several or all supported currencies (a beta endpoint).

BYOK key

You bring your own Abstract Exchange Rates Abstract Exchange Rates API key (https://app.abstractapi.com/dashboard). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to exchange-rates.abstractapi.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
