What Adafruit IO (BYOK) is for

Adafruit IO (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Adafruit IO data through the Adafruit IO API with a key you supply (AIO key). Read-only: 6 tools (list_feeds, get_feed, list_feed_data, get_last_data_point, list_groups, list_group_feeds). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to io.adafruit.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Adafruit IO. Adafruit IO and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "What feeds do I have on Adafruit IO and what are their latest values?"
  • "What is the latest value of my Adafruit IO temperature feed?"
  • "Show the last 100 readings of my Adafruit IO temperature feed"
  • "What was the most recent data point sent to my Adafruit IO humidity feed?"
  • "Which feed groups do I have on Adafruit IO?"
  • "Which feeds are in my Adafruit IO greenhouse group?"

What it does

  • list_feeds: List the account's feeds with name, key, unit, visibility and the last value received.
  • get_feed: Get one feed by key: description, unit, visibility, last value and timestamps.
  • list_feed_data: List stored data points of a feed (value, time, optional location). Limit up to 1000; use start_time and end_time to window.
  • get_last_data_point: Get the most recent data point of a feed: value, time and location if stored.
  • list_groups: List the account's feed groups with name, description and timestamps.
  • list_group_feeds: List the feeds that belong to one group, with their last values.

BYOK key

You bring your own Adafruit IO AIO key (https://io.adafruit.com/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to io.adafruit.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Adafruit IO API (io.adafruit.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://io.adafruit.com/api/docs/http.html. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Adafruit IO. Adafruit IO and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Adafruit IO account.
