What Algolia (BYOK) is for

Algolia (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Algolia data through the Algolia API with a key you supply (API key (search-only key for searching; a key with the listIndexes, settings and browse permissions for the other tools)). Read-only: 8 tools (list_indices, get_index_settings, search_index, browse_index, get_record, search_facet_values, search_synonyms, search_rules). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to *.algolia.net. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Algolia. Algolia and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which Algolia indices do I have and how many records are in each?"
  • "How is my Algolia index configured for searching?"
  • "Search my Algolia products index for 'phone'"
  • "List the records in my Algolia index"
  • "Show the Algolia record with objectID 12345"
  • "Which brands in my Algolia index start with 'ap'?"

What it does

  • list_indices: List the indices of an Algolia application with record count, data size, last update, replicas and primary index. Needs the listIndexes permission.
  • get_index_settings: Get the settings of an Algolia index: searchable attributes, facet attributes, ranking, custom ranking, replicas, typo tolerance and pagination limit. Needs the settings permission.
  • search_index: Search one Algolia index and return matching records (hits) with total hit count and paging. The search counts toward your Algolia search request usage. Up to 1,000 hits are reachable.
  • browse_index: Browse the records of an Algolia index page by page with a cursor (use for more than 1,000 records or a full listing). Needs the browse permission. Pass the returned cursor to get the next page.
  • get_record: Get one record of an Algolia index by its objectID, with all its attributes. Needs the search permission.
  • search_facet_values: Search the values of one facet attribute of an Algolia index (for example brands starting with 'ap') with the number of records for each. The attribute must be declared in attributesForFaceting with searchable().
  • search_synonyms: Search the synonyms of an Algolia index with objectID, type and word lists. Needs the settings permission.
  • search_rules: Search the query rules of an Algolia index with objectID, description, enabled flag, conditions and consequence. Needs the settings permission.

BYOK key

You bring your own Algolia API key (search-only key for searching; a key with the listIndexes, settings and browse permissions for the other tools) (https://dashboard.algolia.com/account/api-keys). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to *.algolia.net over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Algolia API (*.algolia.net) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://www.algolia.com/doc/rest-api/search/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Algolia. Algolia and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Algolia account.
