What balenaCloud (BYOK) is for

balenaCloud (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own balenaCloud data through the balenaCloud API with a key you supply (balenaCloud API key (named API key or session token)). Read-only: 10 tools (whoami, list_fleets, get_fleet, list_devices, get_device, list_device_tags, list_releases, list_services, list_service_installs, list_organizations). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.balena-cloud.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by balenaCloud. balenaCloud and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which balenaCloud account is my API key for?"
  • "Which balenaCloud fleets do I have?"
  • "Show the balenaCloud fleet myorg/myfleet"
  • "Which balenaCloud devices are offline?"
  • "Show the balenaCloud device with uuid 0a1b2c3d4e5f60718293a4b5c6d7e8f9"
  • "What tags does balenaCloud device 0a1b2c3d4e5f60718293a4b5c6d7e8f9 have?"

What it does

  • whoami: Show the balenaCloud user the key belongs to: id, username and email.
  • list_fleets: List fleets (applications) you can access with name, slug, type, release tracking and creation time. Public fleets also appear unless you filter them out.
  • get_fleet: Get one fleet by its slug (organization handle slash fleet name).
  • list_devices: List devices with name, uuid, status, online flag, last connectivity, OS and supervisor versions, addresses and CPU, memory and storage use. Filter by fleet, status or online state.
  • get_device: Get one device by uuid with status, online flag, versions, addresses and resource use.
  • list_device_tags: List device tags (key and value) for all devices or for the devices you filter, for example by device uuid.
  • list_releases: List releases with version, commit, status, source, build times and invalidated flag. Filter by fleet id.
  • list_services: List services (container names) defined in fleets. Filter by fleet name or id.
  • list_service_installs: List which services are installed on which devices. Filter by device uuid.
  • list_organizations: List the organizations you belong to with name, handle, company and website.

BYOK key

You bring your own balenaCloud balenaCloud API key (named API key or session token) (https://dashboard.balena-cloud.com/preferences/access-tokens). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.balena-cloud.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the balenaCloud API (api.balena-cloud.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.balena.io/reference/api/overview. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by balenaCloud. balenaCloud and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your balenaCloud account.
