What Better Stack (BYOK) is for

Better Stack (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Better Stack data through the Better Stack API with a key you supply (Uptime/Incidents API token). Read-only: 8 tools (list_monitors, get_monitor, list_heartbeats, list_incidents, get_incident, list_status_pages, list_escalation_policies, list_on_call_schedules). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to incidents.betterstack.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Better Stack. Better Stack and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which of my Better Stack monitors are down?"
  • "Show Better Stack monitor 2"
  • "Are my Better Stack heartbeats up?"
  • "What incidents are currently open in Better Stack?"
  • "What happened in Better Stack incident 25?"
  • "What is the state of my Better Stack status pages?"

What it does

  • list_monitors: List uptime monitors with name, URL, type, current status (up, down, paused, pending, validating, maintenance), check frequency in seconds and last check time.
  • get_monitor: Get one uptime monitor: URL, type, status, check frequency, regions, team and timestamps.
  • list_heartbeats: List heartbeat monitors (cron job checks) with name, period and grace in seconds, status and team.
  • list_incidents: List incidents, newest first, with cause, status, start, acknowledgement and resolution times. Filter by date range, monitor, resolved or acknowledged. 10 per page by default, 50 at most.
  • get_incident: Get one incident by id: cause, status, times, who acknowledged and resolved it, team and escalation policy.
  • list_status_pages: List status pages with company name, subdomain, custom domain, published flag and current aggregate state.
  • list_escalation_policies: List escalation policies with name, repeat settings, team and the steps that notify people.
  • list_on_call_schedules: List on-call schedules with name, team and who is on call right now (user ids with email).

BYOK key

You bring your own Better Stack Uptime/Incidents API token (https://betterstack.com/docs/uptime/api/getting-started-with-uptime-api/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to incidents.betterstack.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Better Stack API (incidents.betterstack.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://betterstack.com/docs/uptime/api/getting-started-with-uptime-api/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Better Stack. Better Stack and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Better Stack account.
