What Buildkite Agents (BYOK) is for

Buildkite Agents (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Buildkite Agents data through the Buildkite Agents API with a key you supply (API access token (with read_agents and read_clusters scopes)). Read-only: 6 tools (list_agents, get_agent, list_clusters, get_cluster, list_cluster_queues, get_cluster_queue). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.buildkite.com. What it does

  • list_agents: List an organization's connected and stopping agents with state, version, platform, queue, tags and timing. Agents in other states are not returned (use get_agent for those).
  • get_agent: Get one agent by UUID in any connection state, including disconnected or lost ones.
  • list_clusters: List an organization's clusters (groups of agents and queues) with description, default queue and creation time.
  • get_cluster: Get one cluster with its description, colour, default queue and creation time.
  • list_cluster_queues: List the queues of a cluster with dispatch pause state and retry affinity.
  • get_cluster_queue: Get one cluster queue with its key, description, dispatch pause state and retry affinity.

BYOK key

You bring your own Buildkite Agents API access token (with read_agents and read_clusters scopes) (https://buildkite.com/user/api-access-tokens). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.buildkite.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
