What Buttondown (BYOK) is for

Buttondown (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Buttondown data through the Buttondown API with a key you supply (API key). Read-only: 7 tools (list_subscribers, get_subscriber, list_emails, get_email, get_email_analytics, list_tags, list_surveys). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.buttondown.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Buttondown. Buttondown and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Show my newest Buttondown subscribers"
  • "Look up jane@example.com in Buttondown"
  • "What were my last sent Buttondown emails?"
  • "Show Buttondown email em_1"
  • "How did Buttondown email em_1 perform?"
  • "What tags do I use in Buttondown?"

What it does

  • list_subscribers: List subscribers with email, type (regular, premium, unsubscribed ...), source, signup date, country, tags and open and click statistics. Filter by email text, type, source, tag or signup dates.
  • get_subscriber: Get one subscriber by ID or email address, with type, source, dates, country, tags and open and click statistics.
  • list_emails: List emails (drafts, scheduled and sent) with subject, status, type, dates and archive URL; bodies are left out. Filter by status, subject text or publish dates. Only reads; never sends.
  • get_email: Get one email by ID with subject, status, type, dates, archive URL and description.
  • get_email_analytics: Get one email's delivery analytics: recipients, deliveries, opens, clicks, failures, unsubscriptions, complaints, page views and new subscriptions.
  • list_tags: List the tags used to group subscribers with ID, name, color, description and creation date.
  • list_surveys: List surveys with identifier, question, status, answers and response count.

BYOK key

You bring your own Buttondown API key (https://buttondown.com/requests). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.buttondown.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Buttondown API (api.buttondown.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.buttondown.com/api-introduction. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Buttondown. Buttondown and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Buttondown account.
