What Car Vector (BYOK) is for

Car Vector (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Car Vector data through the Car Vector API with a key you supply (CarVector API key). Read-only: 8 tools (search_vehicles, get_vehicle, get_vehicle_recalls, get_vehicle_complaints, get_vehicle_service_bulletins, get_vehicle_investigations, lookup_trouble_code, get_service_status). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.carvector.io. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Car Vector. Car Vector and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Find 2018 Toyota Tacoma vehicles."
  • "What are the engine specs of vehicle 1laqdklflb3hfav?"
  • "Any recalls on vehicle 1laqdklflb3hfav?"
  • "How many owner complaints does vehicle 1laqdklflb3hfav have, and about what?"
  • "Which service bulletins exist for vehicle 1laqdklflb3hfav?"
  • "Has NHTSA opened any investigation on vehicle 1laqdklflb3hfav?"

What it does

  • search_vehicles: Search the vehicle catalog by model year, make and model (case-insensitive). Returns vehicle ids to use with the other tools; the free plan caps pages at 10.
  • get_vehicle: Get the specs of one vehicle by id: trim, engine, horsepower, transmission, drivetrain, fuel, body, doors and counts of recalls, complaints, bulletins and investigations.
  • get_vehicle_recalls: List federal recall campaigns for a vehicle, newest first, with component, summary, consequence, remedy and units affected. Dates are DD/MM/YYYY here.
  • get_vehicle_complaints: Get the owner-complaint totals for a vehicle (by component and year, crash, fire, injury and death counts) plus the most recent complaints. Needs the Pro plan or higher.
  • get_vehicle_service_bulletins: List the manufacturer technical service bulletin index for a vehicle (id, date, type, component, short summary), newest first. Needs the Business plan or higher.
  • get_vehicle_investigations: List NHTSA defect investigations mapped to a vehicle, newest first, with open and close dates and linked recall campaign. Needs the Business plan or higher.
  • lookup_trouble_code: Look up an OBD-II diagnostic trouble code: title, category, severity and whether it is safety or emissions related.
  • get_service_status: Check the service health and when the vehicle data was last refreshed.

BYOK key

You bring your own Car Vector CarVector API key (https://carvector.io/auth/register). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.carvector.io over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Car Vector API (api.carvector.io) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://carvector.io/docs/api. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Car Vector. Car Vector and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Car Vector account.
