What Cliniko (BYOK) is for

Cliniko (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Cliniko data through the Cliniko API with a key you supply (Cliniko API key). Read-only: 9 tools (get_authenticated_user, get_public_settings, list_businesses, list_practitioners, list_appointment_types, list_appointments, get_available_times, list_billable_items, list_products). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.au1.cliniko.com, api.au2.cliniko.com, api.au3.cliniko.com, api.au4.cliniko.com, api.au5.cliniko.com, api.ca1.cliniko.com, api.uk1.cliniko.com, api.uk2.cliniko.com, api.uk3.cliniko.com, api.us1.cliniko.com, api.eu1.cliniko.com. Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which Cliniko user is my API key connected to?"
  • "What are my Cliniko calendar hours and online booking settings?"
  • "What locations does my Cliniko account have?"
  • "Which practitioners work at my Cliniko clinic?"
  • "What appointment types and durations does my Cliniko clinic offer?"
  • "What appointments are booked in my Cliniko clinic from 1 October 2026?"

What it does

  • get_authenticated_user: Show the Cliniko user the API key belongs to: name, role, active flag and time zone.
  • get_public_settings: Get the Cliniko account's public settings: account name, country, currency, calendar hours and slot size, online booking rules and whether it says patient or client.
  • list_businesses: List the businesses (clinic locations) of the account with name, address, time zone and whether they appear in online bookings.
  • list_practitioners: List the practitioners (staff who take appointments) with name, title, designation, active flag and online booking visibility.
  • list_appointment_types: List appointment types with name, category, duration in minutes, maximum attendees, telehealth and online booking flags and payment mode.
  • list_appointments: List individual appointments with start and end time, cancellation, arrival, invoice and treatment-note status and links to the practitioner, business and appointment type. Patient names and notes are not returned. Filter by time to keep answers short.
  • get_available_times: List the open appointment start times for one practitioner, business and appointment type in a window of at most seven days (not in the past).
  • list_billable_items: List billable items (services and products that can be put on invoices) with code, type and price.
  • list_products: List stocked products with code, price with and without tax and current stock level.

BYOK key

You bring your own Cliniko Cliniko API key (https://help.cliniko.com/en/articles/1023957-generate-an-api-key). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.au1.cliniko.com, api.au2.cliniko.com, api.au3.cliniko.com, api.au4.cliniko.com, api.au5.cliniko.com, api.ca1.cliniko.com, api.uk1.cliniko.com, api.uk2.cliniko.com, api.uk3.cliniko.com, api.us1.cliniko.com, api.eu1.cliniko.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Notices

Read-only and administrative: businesses, practitioners, appointment types, appointment times, billable items and products of the key owner's own Cliniko account. Patient names, notes, treatment notes and other clinical records are deliberately left out.
