What Cockroach Cloud (BYOK) is for

Cockroach Cloud (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Cockroach Cloud data through the Cockroach Cloud API with a key you supply (service account API key secret). Read-only: 11 tools (get_organization, list_clusters, get_cluster, list_cluster_nodes, list_cluster_databases, list_cluster_sql_users, list_cluster_backups, get_cluster_ip_allowlist, list_available_regions, list_invoices, list_audit_log_events). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to cockroachlabs.cloud. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Cockroach Cloud. Cockroach Cloud and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which CockroachDB Cloud organization is my key for?"
  • "What CockroachDB clusters do I have and are they running?"
  • "What version and regions does my CockroachDB cluster have?"
  • "Are all nodes of my CockroachDB cluster live?"
  • "Which databases exist in my CockroachDB cluster?"
  • "Which SQL users exist on my CockroachDB cluster?"

What it does

  • get_organization: Show the organization the API key belongs to: id, name, label and creation time.
  • list_clusters: List the organization's clusters with cloud provider, plan, version, state, regions and size. Sorted by name unless changed. The rate limit is 10 requests per second.
  • get_cluster: Get one cluster: provider, plan, version, state, network visibility, delete protection, regions with node counts, and hardware config.
  • list_cluster_nodes: List the nodes of a cluster with region and status, optionally for one region.
  • list_cluster_databases: List the databases of a cluster with their table counts.
  • list_cluster_sql_users: List the SQL user names of a cluster (names only, never passwords).
  • list_cluster_backups: List the backups of a cluster with their ids and snapshot times, optionally within a time range.
  • get_cluster_ip_allowlist: Show the IP allowlist of a cluster: CIDR ranges, names, and whether each allows SQL and console access.
  • list_available_regions: List the cloud regions a new cluster or node could be placed in, optionally for one provider or serverless only.
  • list_invoices: List the organization's invoices with period, status and totals, optionally by status or time range.
  • list_audit_log_events: List audit log events of the organization (who did what, when) with action, actor and cluster. Audit logs may need a plan that includes them.

BYOK key

You bring your own Cockroach Cloud service account API key secret (https://www.cockroachlabs.com/docs/cockroachcloud/managing-access). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to cockroachlabs.cloud over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Cockroach Cloud API (cockroachlabs.cloud) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://www.cockroachlabs.com/docs/cockroachcloud/cloud-api. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Cockroach Cloud. Cockroach Cloud and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Cockroach Cloud account.
