What Confluent Cloud (BYOK) is for

Confluent Cloud (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Confluent Cloud data through the Confluent Cloud API with a key you supply (Cloud API key ID). Read-only: 10 tools (list_environments, get_environment, list_kafka_clusters, get_kafka_cluster, list_flink_compute_pools, list_schema_registry_clusters, list_ksqldb_clusters, list_service_accounts, list_users, list_organizations). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.confluent.cloud. What it does

  • list_environments: List the environments of the organization with their id, display name and Stream Governance package. Environments contain the Kafka clusters.
  • get_environment: Get one environment by id: display name and Stream Governance package.
  • list_kafka_clusters: List the Kafka clusters of one environment with cloud, region, availability, bootstrap endpoint and phase.
  • get_kafka_cluster: Get one Kafka cluster by id: cloud, region, endpoints, deletion protection and phase.
  • list_flink_compute_pools: List the Flink compute pools of one environment with cloud, region, maximum CFU and current CFU.
  • list_schema_registry_clusters: List the Schema Registry clusters of one environment with package, cloud, region and endpoint.
  • list_ksqldb_clusters: List the ksqlDB clusters of one environment with size (CSU), HTTP endpoint and paused state.
  • list_service_accounts: List service accounts of the organization with id, name and description.
  • list_users: List the organization's users with id, email, full name and authentication type.
  • list_organizations: List the organizations the key can see with id, name and whether just-in-time provisioning and SCIM are enabled.

BYOK key

You bring your own Confluent Cloud Cloud API key ID (https://confluent.cloud/settings/api-keys). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.confluent.cloud over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
