What Congress.gov (BYOK) is for
Congress.gov (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Congress.gov data through the Congress.gov API with a key you supply (api.data.gov API key for Congress.gov). Read-only: 11 tools (list_recent_bills, list_bills_by_type, get_bill, list_bill_actions, list_bill_cosponsors, get_bill_summaries, list_amendments, list_members, get_member, list_member_sponsored_bills, list_committees). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.congress.gov. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Congress.gov. Congress.gov and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.
Ask your assistant things like:
- "What bills in Congress had action most recently?"
- "List the Senate bills (type s) of the 119th Congress"
- "Show details of H.R. 3076 in the 117th Congress"
- "What actions have been taken on H.R. 3076 of the 117th Congress?"

BYOK key
You bring your own Congress.gov api.data.gov API key for Congress.gov (https://api.congress.gov/sign-up/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.congress.gov over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
