What CurrencyAPI (BYOK) is for

CurrencyAPI (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own CurrencyAPI data through the CurrencyAPI API with a key you supply (CurrencyAPI key). Read-only: 8 tools (get_latest_rates, get_historical_rates, convert_currency, get_pair_rate, get_fluctuation, get_central_bank_rates, list_currencies, get_quota_status). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.currencyapi.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by CurrencyAPI. CurrencyAPI and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "What is the euro worth in US dollars and pounds right now?"
  • "What was the dollar to euro rate on 2025-12-31?"
  • "How much is 250 US dollars in Japanese yen?"
  • "What is the GBP to EUR exchange rate?"
  • "How did the euro move against the dollar during September 2026?"
  • "What are the European Central Bank's reference rates for today?"

What it does

  • get_latest_rates: Get the latest exchange rates from a base currency to chosen currencies (fiat, metal or crypto), with the time of the last update. Counts against your monthly quota.
  • get_historical_rates: Get exchange rates for one past date (or up to 31 dates) from a base currency. Some history needs a paid plan.
  • convert_currency: Convert an amount (or several amounts) from a base currency into chosen currencies at the latest or a past date's rate.
  • get_pair_rate: Get the rate for one currency pair, with the inverse rate.
  • get_fluctuation: Show how currencies moved between two dates: start and end rate, change, percent change, high, low and average.
  • get_central_bank_rates: Get official reference rates published by a central bank (for example ecb, boe, fed) for a date, optionally compared with market rates.
  • list_currencies: List currencies with code, name, symbol, decimal digits and type, optionally only some codes or one type. This call does not need a quota.
  • get_quota_status: Show your CurrencyAPI account id and monthly quota: total, used and remaining requests. This call does not count against the quota.

BYOK key

You bring your own CurrencyAPI CurrencyAPI key (https://app.currencyapi.com/api-keys). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.currencyapi.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the CurrencyAPI API (api.currencyapi.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://currencyapi.com/docs. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by CurrencyAPI. CurrencyAPI and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your CurrencyAPI account.
