What Datadog Cloud Cost (BYOK) is for

Datadog Cloud Cost (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Datadog Cloud Cost data through the Datadog Cloud Cost API with a key you supply (Datadog API key (US1 site, datadoghq.com)). Read-only: 10 tools (list_budgets, get_budget, list_cost_anomalies, list_cloud_accounts, list_unit_costs, list_custom_allocation_rules, list_cost_tag_keys, list_cost_metrics, get_cost_currency, list_custom_cost_files). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.datadoghq.com. What it does

  • list_budgets: List Cloud Cost Management budgets with name, month range, total amount, metrics query, tags and the monthly entries.
  • get_budget: Get one budget by id. Optionally include actual and forecast cost for a time window (start and end must be given together as epoch milliseconds).
  • list_cost_anomalies: List detected cloud cost anomalies in a time window with provider, actual cost, anomalous cost change, dimensions and dismissal state, plus window totals.
  • list_cloud_accounts: List the cloud accounts (AWS CUR 2.0 and OCI) connected to Cloud Cost Management with account id, status, last status update and error messages.
  • list_unit_costs: List unit cost (ROI) metrics: name, unit label, description, numerator and denominator queries.
  • list_custom_allocation_rules: List custom cost allocation rules with name, providers, enabled flag, order, processing status and allocation strategy.
  • list_cost_tag_keys: List the tag keys available in Cloud Cost Management (for grouping and filtering), with their sources and description. Optionally scope to one cost metric.
  • list_cost_metrics: List the cost metrics that have data in a month, optionally for one provider.
  • get_cost_currency: Get the dominant billing currency seen in Cloud Cost Management data for a month, optionally for one provider.
  • list_custom_cost_files: List uploaded Custom Costs files with name, status, provider names, billed cost, currency and upload time (no uploader details).

BYOK key

You bring your own Datadog Cloud Cost Datadog API key (US1 site, datadoghq.com) (https://app.datadoghq.com/organization-settings/api-keys). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.datadoghq.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
