What Datadog Logs Config (BYOK) is for

Datadog Logs Config (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Datadog Logs Config data through the Datadog Logs Config API with a key you supply (Datadog API key (US1 site, datadoghq.com)). Read-only: 10 tools (list_log_indexes, get_log_index, get_log_index_order, list_log_pipelines, get_log_pipeline, list_log_archives, get_log_archive, list_log_based_metrics, get_log_based_metric, list_restriction_queries). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.datadoghq.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Datadog Logs Config. Datadog Logs Config and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which log indexes do I have in Datadog and how long do they keep logs?"
  • "Show the main log index in Datadog"
  • "In what order does Datadog check my log indexes?"
  • "Which log pipelines are enabled in Datadog?"
  • "Show Datadog log pipeline abc123"
  • "Which Datadog log archives are working?"

What it does

  • list_log_indexes: List log indexes with filter query, retention days, daily limit and rate-limit flag. Needs both the API key and an application key.
  • get_log_index: Get one log index by name: filter query, retention, flex-logs retention, daily limit and rate-limit flag.
  • get_log_index_order: Show the order in which logs are matched against indexes (first match wins).
  • list_log_pipelines: List log processing pipelines in execution order with name, filter query, enabled and read-only flags. Processor definitions are left out; use get_log_pipeline for one.
  • get_log_pipeline: Get one log pipeline by id with its filter query, description, tags and enabled flag.
  • list_log_archives: List log archives with name, query, state (UNKNOWN, WORKING, FAILING, WORKING_AUTH_LEGACY), tag and rehydration settings. Destination secrets are not returned by Datadog.
  • get_log_archive: Get one log archive by id: name, query, state, include-tags flag, rehydration limits and compression.
  • list_log_based_metrics: List metrics generated from logs: id (metric name), aggregation type, measure path, percentile flag and filter query.
  • get_log_based_metric: Get one log-based metric by name with its compute definition and filter query.
  • list_restriction_queries: List log restriction queries (access filters) with query text, role and user counts and last change time. Editor names and emails are left out.

BYOK key

You bring your own Datadog Logs Config Datadog API key (US1 site, datadoghq.com) (https://app.datadoghq.com/organization-settings/api-keys). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.datadoghq.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Datadog Logs Config API (api.datadoghq.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.datadoghq.com/api/latest/logs-indexes/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Datadog Logs Config. Datadog Logs Config and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Datadog Logs Config account.
