What Datadog Metrics (BYOK) is for
Datadog Metrics (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Datadog Metrics data through the Datadog Metrics API with a key you supply (Datadog API key (US1 site, datadoghq.com)). Read-only: 7 tools (list_active_metrics, get_metric_metadata, list_metrics, query_timeseries, list_metric_tags, get_metric_tag_configuration, get_metric_assets). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.datadoghq.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Datadog Metrics. Datadog Metrics and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.
Ask your assistant things like:
- "Which metrics has host web-1 reported to Datadog since yesterday?"
- "What unit and type is the Datadog metric system.cpu.user?"
- "Which custom metrics tagged env:prod are reporting to Datadog?"
- "What was the average CPU on host web-1 in the last hour in Datadog?"
- "Which tags does the Datadog metric system.cpu.user carry?"
- "Is Metrics Without Limits configured for the Datadog metric app.requests?"
What it does
list_active_metrics: List metric names that reported since a given time, optionally for one host or matching a tag filter (tag_filter cannot be combined with host). Names only.get_metric_metadata: Get the metadata of one metric: type (gauge, rate, count), unit, per-unit, description, integration and statsd interval.list_metrics: List metrics reporting in a look-back window with optional tag filter and Metrics Without Limits filters. Returns metric names; page with the cursor from meta.pagination.next_cursor.query_timeseries: Run a read-only metrics query over a time range and return the matching series with scope, unit and data points (timestamp in ms, value). Large answers are cut off.list_metric_tags: List the tags (and, unless filtered out, tag values) seen on one metric in a look-back window, both queryable and ingested.get_metric_tag_configuration: Get the Metrics Without Limits tag configuration of a metric: metric type, included or excluded tags, aggregations and percentiles. Answers 404 when none is set.get_metric_assets: Show which dashboards, monitors, notebooks and SLOs use a metric (ids only; refreshed by Datadog every 24 hours).
BYOK key
You bring your own Datadog Metrics Datadog API key (US1 site, datadoghq.com) (https://app.datadoghq.com/organization-settings/api-keys). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.datadoghq.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
