What Datadog Monitor Config (BYOK) is for

Datadog Monitor Config (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Datadog Monitor Config data through the Datadog Monitor Config API with a key you supply (Datadog API key (US1 site, datadoghq.com)). Read-only: 10 tools (search_monitors, search_monitor_groups, list_notification_rules, get_notification_rule, list_config_policies, list_monitor_templates, get_monitor_template, list_downtimes, get_downtime, list_monitor_active_downtimes). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.datadoghq.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Datadog Monitor Config. Datadog Monitor Config and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which Datadog monitors are currently in alert status?"
  • "Which hosts are currently triggering Datadog monitors?"
  • "Which monitor notification rules exist in Datadog?"
  • "Show Datadog monitor notification rule r1"
  • "Which monitor configuration policies are enforced in Datadog?"
  • "Which monitor templates exist in Datadog?"

What it does

  • search_monitors: Search monitors with Datadog's monitor search syntax. Returns name, type, status, query, tags, last triggered time and status counts (no creator details).
  • search_monitor_groups: Search triggered monitor groups (one row per alerting group such as a host) with monitor id and name, group, status and last trigger time.
  • list_notification_rules: List monitor notification rules (routing rules applied to monitors by tag): name, tag filter, bundling duration and dates. Recipients are not returned.
  • get_notification_rule: Get one monitor notification rule by id: name, tag filter, bundling duration and dates.
  • list_config_policies: List monitor configuration policies (required tags or downtime limits) with their policy type and definition.
  • list_monitor_templates: List monitor user templates with title, description, tags, version, template variables and the monitor definition.
  • get_monitor_template: Get one monitor user template by id with its monitor definition and template variables.
  • list_downtimes: List scheduled downtimes (v2) with scope, status, schedule, message and the monitor they apply to. Optionally only those active now.
  • get_downtime: Get one downtime (v2) by id with scope, status, schedule, message and monitor identifier.
  • list_monitor_active_downtimes: List the downtimes currently muting one monitor, with matched scope, groups, start and end.

BYOK key

You bring your own Datadog Monitor Config Datadog API key (US1 site, datadoghq.com) (https://app.datadoghq.com/organization-settings/api-keys). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.datadoghq.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Datadog Monitor Config API (api.datadoghq.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.datadoghq.com/api/latest/monitors/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Datadog Monitor Config. Datadog Monitor Config and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Datadog Monitor Config account.
