What Datawrapper (BYOK) is for

Datawrapper (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Datawrapper data through the Datawrapper API with a key you supply (Datawrapper API token). Read-only: 11 tools (get_me, list_charts, get_chart, list_recently_edited_charts, list_recently_published_charts, get_chart_display_urls, get_chart_embed_codes, get_chart_publish_status, list_folders, list_themes, list_basemaps). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.datawrapper.de. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Datawrapper. Datawrapper and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which Datawrapper account is my token for?"
  • "Which Datawrapper charts have I published?"
  • "Show Datawrapper chart aBc12"
  • "What did I edit recently in Datawrapper?"
  • "What did I publish recently in Datawrapper?"
  • "Which display URLs does Datawrapper chart aBc12 have?"

What it does

  • get_me: Show the account the token belongs to: id, name and language.
  • list_charts: Search and filter your visualizations (charts, maps, tables) by author, folder, team, workspace, published state or title; paged.
  • get_chart: Get one visualization: title, type, theme, language, team, folder, author, edit and publish state and thumbnails.
  • list_recently_edited_charts: List the charts you edited most recently in a workspace.
  • list_recently_published_charts: List the charts you published most recently in a workspace.
  • get_chart_display_urls: List the public display URLs (live and versioned) of a chart.
  • get_chart_embed_codes: List the embed code snippets (responsive iframe, script and more) of a published chart.
  • get_chart_publish_status: Get the progress steps of publishing one version of a chart.
  • list_folders: List your folders and workspaces with their charts (add compact for just the chart counts).
  • list_themes: List the chart themes available to you, optionally for one team or workspace.
  • list_basemaps: List the map basemaps available to you, optionally for one workspace or chart.

BYOK key

You bring your own Datawrapper Datawrapper API token (https://app.datawrapper.de/account/api-tokens). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.datawrapper.de over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Datawrapper API (api.datawrapper.de) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://www.datawrapper.de/developer/reference/get-charts. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Datawrapper. Datawrapper and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Datawrapper account.
