What DatoCMS (BYOK) is for

DatoCMS (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own DatoCMS data through the DatoCMS API with a key you supply (API token (the project's read-only token is enough)). Read-only: 10 tools (get_site, list_models, get_model, list_model_fields, list_records, get_record, list_uploads, get_upload, list_environments, list_deploy_events). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to site-api.datocms.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by DatoCMS. DatoCMS and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "What is my DatoCMS project called and which locales does it have?"
  • "What content models does my DatoCMS project have?"
  • "Show the DatoCMS model blog_post"
  • "What fields does the DatoCMS model blog_post have?"
  • "What blog post records do I have in DatoCMS?"
  • "Show DatoCMS record c89tCUarTvGKxA37acCEWA"

What it does

  • get_site: Show the DatoCMS project: name, locales, time zone, internal domain and last data change.
  • list_models: List the content models and block models with name, API key and flags (single-instance, block model, sortable, tree, draft mode).
  • get_model: Get one model or block model by id or API key.
  • list_model_fields: List the fields of one model: label, API key, type, localized flag and position.
  • list_records: List records (content items), optionally of one model, matching a text query or given ids, with their field values and publication status. Block fields return block ids unless nested is true.
  • get_record: Get one record by id with all field values and its status and timestamps.
  • list_uploads: List media library uploads with file name, format, size, dimensions, URL and tags; optionally filtered by text.
  • get_upload: Get one media library upload by id.
  • list_environments: List the project's environments with status, primary flag, creation time and last data change.
  • list_deploy_events: List deploy (build trigger) events with event type, time and data.

BYOK key

You bring your own DatoCMS API token (the project's read-only token is enough) (https://www.datocms.com/docs/content-management-api/authentication). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to site-api.datocms.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the DatoCMS API (site-api.datocms.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://www.datocms.com/docs/content-management-api. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by DatoCMS. DatoCMS and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your DatoCMS account.
