What Digital Ocean App Platform (BYOK) is for

Digital Ocean App Platform (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Digital Ocean App Platform data through the Digital Ocean App Platform API with a key you supply (personal access token with app read scope). Read-only: 12 tools (list_apps, get_app, list_deployments, get_deployment, list_events, get_event, get_health, list_instances, list_job_invocations, list_alerts, get_bandwidth_daily, list_instance_sizes). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.digitalocean.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Digital Ocean App Platform. Digital Ocean App Platform and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which App Platform apps do I run and are their deployments active?"
  • "What is the live URL of my app?"
  • "Did the last deployments of my app succeed?"
  • "Why is deployment 3aa4d20e still building?"
  • "What happened on my app recently?"
  • "What was app event b7f1c2d3?"

What it does

  • list_apps: List App Platform apps with name, region, live URL, tier, project and active deployment phase. App spec and environment variables are not returned.
  • get_app: Get one App Platform app: name, region, live URL, tier, project and active deployment phase. App spec and environment variables are not returned.
  • list_deployments: List the deployments of an app with cause, phase, step progress and timestamps. App spec and environment variables are not returned.
  • get_deployment: Get one app deployment with cause, phase and step progress. App spec and environment variables are not returned.
  • list_events: List the events of an app (deployments and autoscaling) with type and time.
  • get_event: Get one app event with type, time and deployment id.
  • get_health: Get the health of an app's components: state, CPU and memory use, and desired versus ready replicas.
  • list_instances: List the running instances of an app with component name, type and instance name.
  • list_job_invocations: List job runs of an app with job name, phase, trigger and start and completion times.
  • list_alerts: List the alert rules of an app (rule, operator, value, window, disabled flag, component). Recipient addresses and webhook URLs are left out.
  • get_bandwidth_daily: Get an app's bandwidth use for one day in bytes (default: yesterday).
  • list_instance_sizes: List the App Platform instance sizes with CPU, memory, bandwidth allowance and monthly price in USD.

BYOK key

You bring your own Digital Ocean App Platform personal access token with app read scope (https://cloud.digitalocean.com/account/api/tokens). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.digitalocean.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Digital Ocean App Platform API (api.digitalocean.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.digitalocean.com/reference/api/reference/apps/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Digital Ocean App Platform. Digital Ocean App Platform and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Digital Ocean App Platform account.
