What Digital Ocean Billing (BYOK) is for

Digital Ocean Billing (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Digital Ocean Billing data through the Digital Ocean Billing API with a key you supply (personal access token with billing read scope). Read-only: 5 tools (get_invoice_summary, get_invoice_items, get_prepayment_status, get_prepayment_config, get_billing_insights). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.digitalocean.com. Ask your assistant things like:

  • "What did I pay for on my last DigitalOcean invoice?"
  • "Which resources cost the most on invoice 22737513?"
  • "Is auto prepay enabled on my DigitalOcean account?"
  • "What is my DigitalOcean spend limit?"
  • "How much did each DigitalOcean product cost in September?"

What it does

  • get_invoice_summary: Get the summary of one invoice: billing period, total, and charge groups (products, overages, taxes, credits). Billing address and contact details are left out.
  • get_invoice_items: List the line items of one invoice: product, resource, description, amount, duration and project.
  • get_prepayment_status: Get the prepayment status: balance, month-to-date balance, auto-prepay flag, blocked flag and eligibility.
  • get_prepayment_config: Get the prepayment configuration: spend limit, auto-prepay flag, prepay amount and threshold.
  • get_billing_insights: Get billing insights for a date range: cost data points by SKU, region and team with description and amount. Paged by per_page and page.

BYOK key

You bring your own Digital Ocean Billing personal access token with billing read scope (https://cloud.digitalocean.com/account/api/tokens). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.digitalocean.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
