What Digital Ocean Kubernetes (BYOK) is for

Digital Ocean Kubernetes (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Digital Ocean Kubernetes data through the Digital Ocean Kubernetes API with a key you supply (personal access token with kubernetes read scope). Read-only: 9 tools (list_clusters, get_cluster, list_node_pools, get_node_pool, list_available_upgrades, get_options, list_status_messages, get_lint_results, list_associated_resources). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.digitalocean.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Digital Ocean Kubernetes. Digital Ocean Kubernetes and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which Kubernetes clusters do I run on DigitalOcean?"
  • "Is my Kubernetes cluster running and which version is it?"
  • "How many nodes does my cluster have?"
  • "Which nodes are in node pool cdda885e?"
  • "Can I upgrade my Kubernetes cluster?"
  • "Which Kubernetes versions and regions does DigitalOcean offer?"

What it does

  • list_clusters: List Kubernetes clusters with region, version, status, endpoint, VPC, auto-upgrade and HA flags. Kubeconfig files and credentials are never returned.
  • get_cluster: Get one Kubernetes cluster: region, version, status, endpoint, VPC, tags and upgrade settings. Kubeconfig files and credentials are never returned.
  • list_node_pools: List the node pools of a cluster with size, node count, autoscale limits and nodes (id, name, status, droplet id).
  • get_node_pool: Get one node pool: size, count, autoscale limits, tags and its nodes.
  • list_available_upgrades: List the Kubernetes versions a cluster can be upgraded to.
  • get_options: List the regions, Kubernetes versions and node sizes available for new clusters.
  • list_status_messages: List recent status messages of a cluster (provisioning, upgrade or error notes) with timestamps.
  • get_lint_results: Get the results of a cluster lint run (best-practice checks): run id, times and diagnostics with severity and object.
  • list_associated_resources: List the load balancers, volumes and volume snapshots associated with a cluster (these would be deleted with it).

BYOK key

You bring your own Digital Ocean Kubernetes personal access token with kubernetes read scope (https://cloud.digitalocean.com/account/api/tokens). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.digitalocean.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Digital Ocean Kubernetes API (api.digitalocean.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.digitalocean.com/reference/api/reference/kubernetes/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Digital Ocean Kubernetes. Digital Ocean Kubernetes and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Digital Ocean Kubernetes account.
