What Digital Ocean Monitoring (BYOK) is for

Digital Ocean Monitoring (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Digital Ocean Monitoring data through the Digital Ocean Monitoring API with a key you supply (personal access token with monitoring read scope). Read-only: 9 tools (list_alert_policies, get_alert_policy, list_log_sinks, list_log_destinations, get_droplet_cpu_metrics, get_droplet_memory_available_metrics, get_droplet_load_metrics, get_droplet_disk_free_metrics, get_droplet_bandwidth_metrics). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.digitalocean.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Digital Ocean Monitoring. Digital Ocean Monitoring and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which DigitalOcean monitoring alerts are configured?"
  • "What are the settings of alert policy 78b3da73-4e4d-4d11-9a54-a2bfe2bfe9a3?"
  • "Where are my DigitalOcean resources sending logs?"
  • "Which logging destinations exist on my DigitalOcean account?"
  • "How busy was Droplet 3164444 over the last hour?"
  • "How much free memory did Droplet 3164444 have this morning?"

What it does

  • list_alert_policies: List alert policies with metric type, comparison, threshold, window, enabled flag, targeted Droplets or tags and notification channels.
  • get_alert_policy: Get one alert policy by UUID with metric type, threshold, window, targets and notification channels.
  • list_log_sinks: List log forwarding sinks with their destination and the resources that send logs to them.
  • list_log_destinations: List logging destinations (managed OpenSearch or external) with name, type, endpoint and retention.
  • get_droplet_cpu_metrics: Get CPU time series of a Droplet between two Unix timestamps, split by CPU mode (idle, user, system and others).
  • get_droplet_memory_available_metrics: Get available memory in bytes of a Droplet as a time series between two Unix timestamps.
  • get_droplet_load_metrics: Get the 5-minute load average of a Droplet as a time series between two Unix timestamps.
  • get_droplet_disk_free_metrics: Get free filesystem space in bytes of a Droplet as a time series between two Unix timestamps.
  • get_droplet_bandwidth_metrics: Get network traffic of a Droplet in megabits per second for one interface and direction between two Unix timestamps.

BYOK key

You bring your own Digital Ocean Monitoring personal access token with monitoring read scope (https://cloud.digitalocean.com/account/api/tokens). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.digitalocean.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Digital Ocean Monitoring API (api.digitalocean.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.digitalocean.com/reference/api/reference/monitoring/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Digital Ocean Monitoring. Digital Ocean Monitoring and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Digital Ocean Monitoring account.
