What Digital Ocean Container Registry (BYOK) is for

Digital Ocean Container Registry (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Digital Ocean Container Registry data through the Digital Ocean Container Registry API with a key you supply (personal access token with registry read scope). Read-only: 7 tools (get_registry, get_subscription, list_repositories, list_repository_tags, list_repository_manifests, get_garbage_collection, get_options). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.digitalocean.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Digital Ocean Container Registry. Digital Ocean Container Registry and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "How much storage does my container registry use?"
  • "Which registry plan am I on?"
  • "Which images are in my container registry?"
  • "What tags does my backend image have?"
  • "How many image versions does my backend repository hold?"
  • "Is registry garbage collection running?"

What it does

  • get_registry: Get the account's container registry: name, region, storage used in bytes and subscription tier.
  • get_subscription: Get the registry subscription tier: included repositories, storage and bandwidth, overage rules and monthly price in cents.
  • list_repositories: List repositories in a registry with tag count, manifest count and the latest manifest digest, size and tags. Pass next page token via page_token.
  • list_repository_tags: List the tags of one repository with manifest digest, sizes and last update.
  • list_repository_manifests: List the image manifests (digests) of one repository with sizes, tags and last update.
  • get_garbage_collection: Get the active or latest garbage collection of a registry: status, blobs deleted and bytes freed.
  • get_options: List the registry subscription tiers (with prices and eligibility) and the regions available.

BYOK key

You bring your own Digital Ocean Container Registry personal access token with registry read scope (https://cloud.digitalocean.com/account/api/tokens). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.digitalocean.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Digital Ocean Container Registry API (api.digitalocean.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.digitalocean.com/reference/api/reference/container-registry/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Digital Ocean Container Registry and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.
