What DNSimple (BYOK) is for

DNSimple (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own DNSimple data through the DNSimple API with a key you supply (DNSimple API access token (an account token is enough; scoped read tokens work on some plans)). Read-only: 9 tools (whoami, list_accounts, list_domains, get_domain, list_zones, list_zone_records, list_email_forwards, list_certificates, check_domain_availability). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.dnsimple.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by DNSimple. DNSimple and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which DNSimple account is my token connected to?"
  • "What is my DNSimple account id?"
  • "Which domains do I have in DNSimple and when do they expire?"
  • "When does example.com expire in DNSimple?"
  • "Which DNS zones are hosted in my DNSimple account?"
  • "What DNS records does example.com have in DNSimple?"

What it does

  • whoami: Show who the access token belongs to: the account (id, email, name, plan) for an account token, or the user for a user token.
  • list_accounts: List the DNSimple accounts the token can access with id, email and plan. The id is needed by the other tools.
  • list_domains: List the domains in a DNSimple account with state (hosted, registered, expired), expiry, auto-renew and WHOIS privacy.
  • get_domain: Get one domain of the account by name or id with state, expiry, auto-renew and WHOIS privacy.
  • list_zones: List DNS zones in the account with record counts and limits, active flag and whether each is secondary.
  • list_zone_records: List the DNS records of a zone with name, type, content, TTL and priority, optionally filtered by name or type.
  • list_email_forwards: List the email forwards of a domain with alias and destination addresses.
  • list_certificates: List the TLS certificates of a domain with common name, alternate names, state, authority and expiry. Private keys are not requested.
  • check_domain_availability: Check whether a domain name can be registered through DNSimple, and whether it is a premium name. This only asks; it does not buy.

BYOK key

You bring your own DNSimple DNSimple API access token (an account token is enough; scoped read tokens work on some plans) (https://dnsimple.com/user). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.dnsimple.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the DNSimple API (api.dnsimple.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://developer.dnsimple.com/v2/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by DNSimple. DNSimple and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your DNSimple account.
