What Dropbox (BYOK) is for

Dropbox (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Dropbox data through the Dropbox API with a key you supply (access token (short-lived tokens expire, often after about 4 hours)). Read-only: 8 tools (list_folder, list_folder_continue, get_metadata, search_files, search_files_continue, list_shared_links, list_revisions, list_shared_folders). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.dropboxapi.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Dropbox. Dropbox and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "What files are in my Dropbox Documents folder?"
  • "Show the next page of my Dropbox folder listing"
  • "When was /Documents/report.pdf last modified in my Dropbox?"
  • "Find files about the 2026 budget in my Dropbox"
  • "Show more Dropbox search results"
  • "Which of my Dropbox files have shared links?"

What it does

  • list_folder: List the files and folders directly inside one Dropbox folder (or the whole tree below it) with size, dates and revision. Folders have no size. When has_more is true, pass the returned cursor to list_folder_continue.
  • list_folder_continue: Get the next page of a folder listing using the cursor returned by list_folder.
  • get_metadata: Get the metadata of one file or folder: name, path, size, modified times, revision and content hash.
  • search_files: Search file and folder names, and file contents, in your Dropbox. Each match gives the entry's name, path and dates and how it matched. When has_more is true, use search_files_continue with the cursor.
  • search_files_continue: Get the next page of search results using the cursor returned by search_files.
  • list_shared_links: List the shared links you created in Dropbox, or the links for one path, with link URL, name and expiry. Without a path the answer can be paged with the cursor.
  • list_revisions: List the previous versions (revisions) of a file with revision id, size and modified time.
  • list_shared_folders: List the shared folders you belong to, with name, shared folder id, access level and team-folder flag.

BYOK key

You bring your own Dropbox access token (short-lived tokens expire, often after about 4 hours) (https://www.dropbox.com/developers/apps). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.dropboxapi.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Dropbox API (api.dropboxapi.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://www.dropbox.com/developers/documentation/http/documentation. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Dropbox. Dropbox and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Dropbox account.
