What Exotel (BYOK) is for

Exotel (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Exotel data through the Exotel API with a key you supply (API key). Read-only: 6 tools (get_balance, list_exophones, get_exophone, list_calls, get_call, get_sms). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.exotel.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Exotel. Exotel and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "How much Exotel credit do I have left?"
  • "Which ExoPhone numbers does my Exotel account have?"
  • "Show Exotel ExoPhone 011XXXXXXX1"
  • "Which Exotel calls failed yesterday?"
  • "Show Exotel call b6cfaf5f5cef3ca0fc937749ef96d245"
  • "Was Exotel SMS sms_sid_value delivered?"

What it does

  • get_balance: Get the wallet balance of the Exotel account with currency, pricing plan and last update time.
  • list_exophones: List the ExoPhone virtual numbers of the account with number, friendly name, voice and SMS capability, country and region.
  • get_exophone: Get one ExoPhone by its SID with number, capabilities, country, region and the flow URL that handles its calls.
  • list_calls: List call records with status, direction, duration, price and times, newest first. Phone numbers and recording links are not returned. Up to 6 months back and a one-month range per request; page with the cursor in NextPageUri.
  • get_call: Get one call record by its SID with status, direction, duration, price, times and optionally leg-level durations. Phone numbers and the recording link are not returned.
  • get_sms: Get the delivery status of one SMS by its SID: status, detailed status code and text, times and price. The recipient and message text are not returned.

BYOK key

You bring your own Exotel API key (https://developer.exotel.com/docs/voice-v1/api-reference/balance). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.exotel.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Exotel API (api.exotel.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://developer.exotel.com/docs/voice-v1/api-reference/call-details. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Exotel. Exotel and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Exotel account.
