What fastFOREX (BYOK) is for

fastFOREX (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own fastFOREX data through the fastFOREX API with a key you supply (fastFOREX API key). Read-only: 10 tools (get_rate, get_rates, convert_currency, get_historical_rates, get_time_series, list_currencies, list_crypto_currencies, get_crypto_prices, get_fx_quote, get_usage). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.fastforex.io. Ask your assistant things like:

  • "What is the USD to EUR exchange rate right now?"
  • "Give me USD to EUR, GBP and JPY rates."
  • "Convert 199.50 USD into euros."
  • "What were the USD exchange rates on 2026-01-16?"
  • "Show the USD to GBP daily rate for September 2026."
  • "Which currencies does fastFOREX support?"

What it does

  • get_rate: Get the midpoint spot exchange rate from one currency to another (physical, crypto, or metal such as XAU against a physical currency).
  • get_rates: Get midpoint spot rates from one base currency to several target currencies in one call.
  • convert_currency: Convert an amount from one currency into another (physical or digital) at the current midpoint rate.
  • get_historical_rates: Get midpoint exchange rates for one past UTC date, from a base currency to chosen targets (all currencies when omitted).
  • get_time_series: Get daily exchange rates between two dates for one or more target currencies from a base currency.
  • list_currencies: List the 170+ supported physical currency symbols with their names.
  • list_crypto_currencies: List the 500+ supported cryptocurrency symbols with their names.
  • get_crypto_prices: Get real-time prices for up to 10 cryptocurrency pairs written as BASE/QUOTE, for example BTC/USD.
  • get_fx_quote: Get live bid and ask quotes for up to 10 FX trading pairs (needs the Extra or Premium plan).
  • get_usage: Get your own recent daily API usage, current billing period and remaining monthly quota.

BYOK key

You bring your own fastFOREX fastFOREX API key (https://console.fastforex.io/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.fastforex.io over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
