What Federal Audit Clearinghouse (BYOK) is for

Federal Audit Clearinghouse (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Federal Audit Clearinghouse data through the Federal Audit Clearinghouse API with a key you supply (api.data.gov API key). Read-only: 10 tools (search_audits, get_audit, list_federal_awards, list_findings, list_finding_texts, list_corrective_action_plans, list_sefa_notes, list_passthrough_entities, list_additional_ueis, list_additional_eins). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.fac.gov. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Federal Audit Clearinghouse. Federal Audit Clearinghouse and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which nonprofits in California filed a Single Audit for 2023?"
  • "Show Single Audit report 2023-09-GSAFAC-0000123456"
  • "Which federal programs did report 2023-09-GSAFAC-0000123456 audit?"
  • "What findings did report 2023-09-GSAFAC-0000123456 have?"
  • "Describe the audit findings of report 2023-09-GSAFAC-0000123456"
  • "What corrective actions did the auditee plan for report 2023-09-GSAFAC-0000123456?"

BYOK key

You bring your own Federal Audit Clearinghouse api.data.gov API key (https://www.fac.gov/api/signup/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.fac.gov over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Federal Audit Clearinghouse API (api.fac.gov) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://www.fac.gov/api/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.
