What Fly.io Machines (BYOK) is for

Fly.io Machines (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Fly.io Machines data through the Fly.io Machines API with a key you supply (Fly.io access token (a read-only or org-scoped token is enough)). Read-only: 9 tools (get_current_token, list_apps, get_app, list_machines, get_machine, list_volumes, list_certificates, list_ip_assignments, list_regions). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.machines.dev. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Fly.io Machines. Fly.io Machines and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "What can my Fly.io token access?"
  • "Which Fly.io apps do I have in my personal organization?"
  • "How many Machines does Fly app my-app have?"
  • "Which Machines of Fly app my-app are started, and in which regions?"
  • "What size and state is Machine 148e21ab1e7d98 of Fly app my-app?"
  • "Which volumes does Fly app my-app have and where are they attached?"

What it does

  • get_current_token: Show what the access token is: the user, organization and apps it is limited to.
  • list_apps: List the Fly.io apps of one organization with status, Machine and volume counts and network name.
  • get_app: Get one Fly.io app: status, organization, Machine and volume counts and network.
  • list_machines: List the Machines of an app with state, region, image reference, private IP and dates. By default only the summary is returned (no environment or config).
  • get_machine: Get one Machine by id: state, region, image, CPU and memory size, private IP and dates. Environment variables and secrets are not returned.
  • list_volumes: List the volumes of an app with size in GB, region, state, encryption and the Machine each is attached to.
  • list_certificates: List the TLS certificates of an app with hostname, status and configuration state.
  • list_ip_assignments: List the IP addresses assigned to an app with region, service name, and whether each is shared or egress.
  • list_regions: List Fly.io regions with code, name, geographic area, whether a paid plan is required and which one is nearest.

BYOK key

You bring your own Fly.io Machines Fly.io access token (a read-only or org-scoped token is enough) (https://fly.io/dashboard). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.machines.dev over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Fly.io Machines API (api.machines.dev) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.fly.io/machines/api. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Fly.io Machines. Fly.io Machines and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Fly.io Machines account.
