What Freshservice Asset Config (BYOK) is for

Freshservice Asset Config (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Freshservice Asset Config data through the Freshservice Asset Config API with a key you supply (Freshservice API key). Read-only: 9 tools (list_asset_types, get_asset_type, list_asset_type_fields, list_products, list_vendors, list_contract_types, list_contracts, list_relationship_types, list_purchase_orders). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to *.freshservice.com. What it does

  • list_asset_types: List asset types (laptop, server, phone and custom types) with parent type, description and visibility.
  • get_asset_type: Get one asset type by id with parent type, description and visibility.
  • list_asset_type_fields: List the fields of one asset type grouped by section (General, Assignment and so on) with label, field type, data type and required flags.
  • list_products: List products (hardware and software models) with asset type, manufacturer, lifecycle status, procurement mode and depreciation type.
  • list_vendors: List vendors with name, description and address (city, state, country). Contact person ids are not returned.
  • list_contract_types: List contract types (lease, maintenance, software license and custom) with approval requirement and default flag.
  • list_contracts: List contracts with name, vendor, type, status, start and end dates, cost, renewal and expiry notification settings. License keys and contact emails are not returned.
  • list_relationship_types: List the asset relationship types (for example Used by, Depends on) with upstream and downstream wording and impact flags.
  • list_purchase_orders: List purchase orders with name, PO number, vendor, status code, expected delivery date, currency and department. Addresses and amounts of line items are not returned.

BYOK key

You bring your own Freshservice Asset Config Freshservice API key (https://api.freshservice.com/#authentication). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to *.freshservice.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
