What GitHub Gists (BYOK) is for

GitHub Gists (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own GitHub Gists data through the GitHub Gists API with a key you supply (GitHub personal access token (classic with gist scope, or fine-grained with gists read permission)). Read-only: 8 tools (list_my_gists, list_starred_gists, list_public_gists, list_user_gists, get_gist, list_gist_comments, list_gist_commits, list_gist_forks). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.github.com.   • "Which gists have I starred?"

What it does

  • list_my_gists: List the token owner's gists (public and secret), newest first, with description, visibility, comment count and dates.
  • list_starred_gists: List the gists the token owner has starred.
  • list_public_gists: List the most recently created public gists on GitHub.
  • list_user_gists: List the public gists of any GitHub user.
  • get_gist: Get one gist with its description, owner and files (file names, languages, sizes and text content, which can be long).
  • list_gist_comments: List the comments on a gist with author and dates.
  • list_gist_commits: List the revisions (commits) of a gist with version hash, author and change counts.
  • list_gist_forks: List the forks of a gist with owner and dates.

BYOK key

You bring your own GitHub Gists GitHub personal access token (classic with gist scope, or fine-grained with gists read permission) (https://github.com/settings/tokens). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.github.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
