What GitHub (BYOK) is for

GitHub (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own GitHub data through the GitHub API with a key you supply (personal access token). Read-only: 12 tools (get_authenticated_user, list_my_repositories, get_repository, list_issues, list_pull_requests, list_commits, list_releases, list_workflow_runs, search_repositories, search_issues, list_notifications, get_rate_limit). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.github.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by GitHub. GitHub and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which GitHub account is my token connected to?"
  • "What are my most recently updated GitHub repositories?"
  • "How many stars and open issues does octocat/Hello-World have?"
  • "What open issues labelled bug does octocat/Hello-World have?"
  • "Which pull requests are open on octocat/Hello-World?"
  • "What were the latest commits on octocat/Hello-World?"

What it does

  • get_authenticated_user: Show the GitHub account the key belongs to: login, name, company, public repository count and followers.
  • list_my_repositories: List repositories the key's account can access, newest activity first, with language, stars and open issue counts.
  • get_repository: Get one repository's description, language, stars, forks, open issues, default branch and last push.
  • list_issues: List a repository's issues (pull requests also appear here, marked by pull_request) filtered by state and labels.
  • list_pull_requests: List a repository's pull requests by state with author, draft flag, dates and merge time.
  • list_commits: List recent commits of a repository, optionally for one author or since a date, with message, author and date.
  • list_releases: List a repository's releases with tag, name, draft and pre-release flags and publish date.
  • list_workflow_runs: List recent GitHub Actions workflow runs of a repository with status, conclusion, branch and time.
  • search_repositories: Search public GitHub repositories by keywords and qualifiers such as language:python or stars:>1000.
  • search_issues: Search issues and pull requests across GitHub with qualifiers such as repo:, is:open, author:, label:.
  • list_notifications: List your GitHub notifications (unread by default) with reason, subject and repository.
  • get_rate_limit: Show how many GitHub API calls the key has left for core, search and GraphQL.

BYOK key

You bring your own GitHub personal access token (https://github.com/settings/tokens). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.github.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the GitHub API (api.github.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://docs.github.com/en/rest. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by GitHub. GitHub and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your GitHub account.
