What GoatCounter (BYOK) is for

GoatCounter (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own GoatCounter data through the GoatCounter API with a key you supply (API token (needs the statistics and site read permissions)). Read-only: 8 tools (get_current_user, list_sites, get_site, list_paths, get_total_stats, list_top_pages, list_path_referrers, get_stats_breakdown). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to *.goatcounter.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by GoatCounter. GoatCounter and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which GoatCounter account does my token belong to?"
  • "Which GoatCounter sites do I have?"
  • "Show GoatCounter site 1"
  • "Which page paths does GoatCounter track on my site?"
  • "How many page views did my site get in the last week?"
  • "What are my most visited pages on GoatCounter this week?"

What it does

  • get_current_user: Show which GoatCounter token and user the key belongs to: token name, permission bitmask and the user's site id.
  • list_sites: List the GoatCounter sites the token can see: id, code, custom domain, state, creation and first hit time and whether data was received.
  • get_site: Get one GoatCounter site by numeric id: code, custom domain, state, dates and whether data has been received.
  • list_paths: List the tracked paths (pages and events) of the site without statistics, sorted by path id. Page with 'after'.
  • get_total_stats: Count total page views and events of the site in a period, with the unique-visitor total and a per-day series.
  • list_top_pages: List pages by visitors in a period (sorted by count) with path id, title and visitor count. Page with limit and exclude_paths.
  • list_path_referrers: List where visitors of one page came from in a period, with referrer name and count.
  • get_stats_breakdown: Break site visitors down by one dimension in a period: browsers, systems, locations, languages, screen sizes, campaigns or top referrers, with counts.

BYOK key

You bring your own GoatCounter API token (needs the statistics and site read permissions) (https://www.goatcounter.com/help/api). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to *.goatcounter.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the GoatCounter API (*.goatcounter.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://www.goatcounter.com/help/api. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by GoatCounter. GoatCounter and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your GoatCounter account.
