What Google Books (BYOK) is for
Google Books (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Google Books data through the Google Books API with a key you supply (Google API key (Books API enabled)). Read-only: 6 tools (search_volumes, search_ebooks, get_volume, list_user_bookshelves, get_user_bookshelf, list_shelf_volumes). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to www.googleapis.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google Books. Google Books and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.
Ask your assistant things like:
- "Find books by Octavia Butler on Google Books"
- "Find free ebooks about gardening on Google Books"
- "Tell me about the Google Books volume with id zyTCAlFPjgYC"
- "What public bookshelves does this Google Books user have?"
- "Show the details of bookshelf 3 of this Google Books user"
- "Which books are on bookshelf 3 of this Google Books user?"
What it does
search_volumes: Search Google Books for books and magazines by text or qualifiers such as intitle:, inauthor:, isbn:, subject:. Returns title, authors, publisher, date, description, identifiers, rating and links.search_ebooks: Search Google Books for e-books only, filtered by availability: any ebook, free ebooks, or paid ebooks (with list price). Returns the same fields as search_volumes.get_volume: Get one Google Books volume by its volume id: title, authors, description, identifiers, page count, categories, rating, sale and access information.list_user_bookshelves: List the public bookshelves of a Google Books user: id, title, description, volume count and last update.get_user_bookshelf: Get one public bookshelf of a Google Books user by shelf id: title, description, volume count and last update.list_shelf_volumes: List the volumes on a public bookshelf of a Google Books user, with title, authors, description and identifiers.
BYOK key
You bring your own Google Books Google API key (Books API enabled) (https://console.cloud.google.com/apis/credentials). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to www.googleapis.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
Data sources
