What GovInfo (BYOK) is for
GovInfo (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own GovInfo data through the GovInfo API with a key you supply (api.data.gov API key for GovInfo). Read-only: 7 tools (list_collections, list_collection_updates, list_published_packages, get_package_summary, list_package_granules, get_granule_summary, get_related_documents). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to api.govinfo.gov. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by GovInfo. GovInfo and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.
Ask your assistant things like:
- "Which collections does GovInfo have?"
- "Which congressional bill packages were added to GovInfo since 2026-01-01?"
- "Which Federal Register issues were published in March 2026?"
- "Summarize package BILLS-115hr1625enr"
- "List the documents inside Federal Register issue FR-2018-04-12"
- "Summarize Federal Register document 2018-07777"
What it does
list_collections: List the GovInfo collections with their code, name and package and granule counts.list_collection_updates: List packages of one collection added or modified since a date and time, with package id, last-modified time and summary link. Pages by cursor.list_published_packages: List packages issued between two dates (by official issue date) in one or more collections, with package id and summary link. Pages by cursor.get_package_summary: Get the summary of one GovInfo package: title, collection, issue date, category, last-modified time, links to its text, PDF, XML and metadata, and collection-specific fields such as congress and bill number.list_package_granules: List the granules (parts such as individual Federal Register documents or Congressional Record articles) of a package, with title, granule id and summary link. Pages by cursor.get_granule_summary: Get the summary of one granule: title, issuing agencies, class, issue date, last-modified time and links to its text, PDF and metadata.get_related_documents: List the relationships of a GovInfo document (for a bill: its versions, history, public law, reports, U.S. Code and Statutes references; for a Federal Register document: related documents and CFR citations).
BYOK key
You bring your own GovInfo api.data.gov API key for GovInfo (https://www.govinfo.gov/api-signup). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to api.govinfo.gov over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
