What Grafana Alerting (BYOK) is for
Grafana Alerting (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Grafana Alerting data through the Grafana Alerting API with a key you supply (service account token (Viewer role is enough)). Read-only: 8 tools (list_contact_points, get_notification_policy_tree, list_mute_timings, get_mute_timing, list_message_templates, get_message_template, get_alert_rule, get_alert_rule_group). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to *.grafana.net. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Grafana Alerting. Grafana Alerting and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.
Ask your assistant things like:
- "Which alert contact points does my Grafana stack have?"
- "How are Grafana alert notifications routed?"
- "Which mute timings are set in Grafana alerting?"
- "Show the Grafana mute timing weekends"
- "Which Grafana notification templates exist?"
- "Show the Grafana notification template slack-default"
What it does
list_contact_points: List alert contact points with name, type (email, slack, pagerduty, webhook ...), uid and provenance. Connection settings are left out. Optional name filter.get_notification_policy_tree: Get the notification policy tree: default receiver, grouping, timing, mute intervals and nested routes with matchers.list_mute_timings: List mute timings (recurring windows when notifications are silenced) with their time intervals.get_mute_timing: Get one mute timing by name with its time intervals.list_message_templates: List notification template groups with name, template text, version and provenance.get_message_template: Get one notification template group by name.get_alert_rule: Get one alert rule by UID: title, folder, rule group, condition, pending period, no-data and error states, labels, annotations, receiver and paused flag. Queries are left out.get_alert_rule_group: Get a rule group of a folder: evaluation interval in seconds and its rules with title, state settings, labels and annotations. Queries are left out.
BYOK key
You bring your own Grafana Alerting service account token (Viewer role is enough) (https://grafana.com/docs/grafana/latest/administration/service-accounts/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to *.grafana.net over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
Data sources

Live from the Grafana Alerting API (*.grafana.net) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://grafana.com/docs/grafana/latest/developers/http_api/alerting_provisioning/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.
What it is not
Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Grafana Alerting. Grafana Alerting and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Grafana Alerting account.
