What Grafana Cloud (BYOK) is for

Grafana Cloud (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Grafana Cloud data through the Grafana Cloud API with a key you supply (service account token). Read-only: 10 tools (get_current_user, get_current_org, get_health, search_dashboards, get_dashboard, list_folders, list_data_sources, list_alert_rules, list_annotations, search_teams). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to *.grafana.net. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Grafana Cloud. Grafana Cloud and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which Grafana identity is my token using?"
  • "What is my Grafana organization called?"
  • "Which Grafana version is my stack running?"
  • "Which dashboards do I have that mention latency?"
  • "When was dashboard abc123 last updated and who changed it?"
  • "What dashboard folders exist in my Grafana?"

What it does

  • get_current_user: Show the identity the token resolves to in your stack: login, name, email, organization id and admin flag.
  • get_current_org: Show the current Grafana organization of your stack: id, name and address.
  • get_health: Show the Grafana version, build commit and database status of your stack.
  • search_dashboards: Search dashboards and folders by title, tag or type. Returns uid, title, folder, tags and URL; use the uid with get_dashboard.
  • get_dashboard: Get one dashboard by uid: title, tags, refresh and time range, plus metadata such as folder, version, who last changed it and when.
  • list_folders: List folders of your stack (top level, or the children of one parent folder) with uid and title.
  • list_data_sources: List the data sources configured in your stack with name, type, uid and whether each is the default.
  • list_alert_rules: List all Grafana-managed alert rules with title, folder, rule group, evaluation interval, paused flag, labels and last update.
  • list_annotations: List annotations (events marked on dashboards, including alert state changes) in a time range, newest first.
  • search_teams: Search teams in your stack by name with member counts.

BYOK key

You bring your own Grafana Cloud service account token (https://grafana.com/docs/grafana/latest/administration/service-accounts/). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to *.grafana.net over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Grafana Cloud API (*.grafana.net) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://grafana.com/docs/grafana/latest/developer-resources/api-reference/http-api/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Grafana Cloud. Grafana Cloud and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Grafana Cloud account.
