What GUS BDL Poland (BYOK) is for

GUS BDL Poland (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own GUS BDL Poland data through the GUS BDL Poland API with a key you supply (BDL client key (registered user key)). Read-only: 8 tools (list_subjects, search_subjects, list_variables, search_variables, list_territorial_units, search_territorial_units, get_data_by_variable, get_data_by_unit). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to bdl.stat.gov.pl. Ask your assistant things like:

  • "What are the top-level statistical topics in the Polish Local Data Bank?"
  • "Find BDL subjects about cars (samochody)."
  • "Which variables exist under subject P2137?"
  • "Find BDL variables mentioning cars."
  • "List the voivodeships (level 2) of Poland."
  • "Find the unit named Krakow."

What it does

  • list_subjects: List statistical subjects (topics) of the Local Data Bank; leave parent_id empty for the top level, or give a subject id for its children.
  • search_subjects: Search statistical subjects by a fragment of the name.
  • list_variables: List statistical variables of a subject, optionally limited to one level and one year; returns variable ids used by the data tools.
  • search_variables: Search statistical variables by text in their dimension names, for example 'samochody'.
  • list_territorial_units: List territorial units (Poland, regions, voivodeships, counties, communes), optionally for a parent unit and level.
  • search_territorial_units: Search territorial units by name fragment, optionally for one level.
  • get_data_by_variable: Get the values of one statistical variable for many territorial units (filtered by level, parent unit and one year), paged.
  • get_data_by_unit: Get the values of one statistical variable for one territorial unit, optionally for a single year.

BYOK key

You bring your own GUS BDL Poland BDL client key (registered user key) (https://api.stat.gov.pl/Home/BdlApi). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to bdl.stat.gov.pl over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
