What Harvard Dataverse (BYOK) is for
Harvard Dataverse (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Harvard Dataverse data through the Harvard Dataverse API with a key you supply (Harvard Dataverse API token (Account > API Token)). Read-only: 7 tools (search, get_collection, list_collection_contents, list_dataset_versions, list_dataset_files, get_dataset_citation, get_server_version). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to dataverse.harvard.edu. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Harvard Dataverse. Harvard Dataverse and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.
Ask your assistant things like:
- "Find datasets about wildfire smoke in Harvard Dataverse"
- "What is the Harvard Dataverse collection 'harvard' about?"
- "What is directly inside the Harvard Dataverse collection 'harvard'?"
- "How many versions does dataset doi:10.7910/DVN/TJCLKP have?"
- "Which files are in dataset doi:10.7910/DVN/TJCLKP?"
- "Give me the citation for doi:10.7910/DVN/TJCLKP"
What it does
search: Search Harvard Dataverse collections, datasets and files by text; returns the total count and matching items with name, type, URL, identifier, description, citation and subjects.get_collection: Get a Dataverse collection by alias or id: name, alias, description, affiliation and creation date.list_collection_contents: List the collections and datasets directly under one collection (published ones, plus unpublished ones the token can access).list_dataset_versions: List the versions of a dataset with version number, state, license and release dates (files and metadata blocks are left out).list_dataset_files: List the files of one dataset version with file names, sizes, types and access settings; supports paging and text, content type or access filters.get_dataset_citation: Get the formatted citation text of one dataset version as shown on its Harvard Dataverse page.get_server_version: Show the Dataverse software version and build of Harvard Dataverse.
BYOK key
You bring your own Harvard Dataverse Harvard Dataverse API token (Account > API Token) (https://dataverse.harvard.edu/dataverseuser.xhtml?selectTab=apiTokenTab). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to dataverse.harvard.edu over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.
